    Default Cigars for my husband

Please bear with me, as I have never been on a cigar forum, but need a little help. I recently bought a sampler of 12 Davidoff cigars for my husband for xmas. They arrived today and I have no idea how to take care of them until I can give them to him for xmas (which is about 2 weeks off.) I have read they would be best in a humidor, but do to other circumstances (we are in the middle of a move), I do not have a humidor. Usually when my husband buys any cigars he puts them in a ziplock bag and puts them in the freezer (dont know for how long.) Should I open the cigar case and attempt this? Or what else should I do? Would they be ok out of a humidor for two weeks until he gets them and can deal with them? They were relatively expensive and I would hate to ruin them. Thank you for any help, it is much appreciated.

Do not put the cigars in a freezer for any length of time - it will eventually dry them out and make them unsmokeable (would be very tragic, especially with cigars as nice as Davidoff).

For temporary storage I use the heavy freezer ziplock bags. That will keep them plenty humidified for at least the next two weeks as long as you keep the ziplock bag sealed. For longer than 2 weeks, go to a local cigar shop and pick up a small humidification "pillow". You soak the pillow in distilled water and place it in the ziplock. It will keep those cigars humidified for weeks.

    Hope that helps!

That's what I was thinking! Although my wife takes all the surprise out of it - "You just get whatever you want, honey, and write my name on the card..."

bean83, ggiese gave you some great advice. And if you and your husband ever split up, you won't be single for long. There are thousands of guys out there who would love to have 12 Davidoffs for a Christmas present!
