Got a 5 pack of these on C-bid the other week for $9 and lit one up today. Upon initial inspection the outlook wasnt too promising.

CONSTRUCTION: The overall construction of this cigar was pretty lousy. Several soft spots and with a squeeze test you could tell it wasnt wrapped too tight. Cap inspection: I wasnt even sure there was one or where I was supposed to cut. Whipped out the Xikar and lopped of about an 1/8 of an inch and prayed for the best. Additionally ther were several cosmetic flaws in the wrapper, however, aside for asthetics I really didnt care.

PRE LIGHT DRAW: Looser than a few of my ex girlfriends. Little to no resistance at all and at this point I was thinking that it was gonna be a waste of a half hour of good smoke time. Little to no pre light flavor at all. No spice, no nothing. Feeling like I got screwed at this point.

LIGHT UP: Pre light was as usual but noticed a run which with the torch and spit could be corrected. Initial clouds of dense smoke and a nice spicy flavour. The spice mellowed into a very smooth spice / sweet smoke that lasted till the 1/2 mark... Additionally again I will say that the smoke was thick which I love. Lets me know Im actually smoking something. After about 1/2 it began to go downhill. Despite purging and resting a bitter taste carried on. Im figuring this was due to the loose roll of the cigar lending to too much heat dispite letting it sit between puffs.

IMPRESSIONS: Overall it wasnt bad...Ive had much worse. Maybe more time in the humidor...like a year, or maybe I just had a poor 1st experience. Cheap enough this is a smoke worth getting through the first half and tossing when it gets bitter. No off tastes and Id say by my burnt taste buds its a medium to half full smoke. No offensive aftertastes, and all in all not that bad.

An hour after smoking I still have a good taste of tobacco in my mouth. I think the key is knowing when to say when with this smoke and tossing it before you loose heart.

I got a box of the Petit Coronas. Not a bad quick smoke.

I've had my inidans unwrap on me recently, and they have been in the humidor for a couple of months.

One of my favorites. The flavor in these cigars is exquisite IMHO.

Pierce, this is an almost deceptively smooth full bodied spicy/sweet cigar. You will have to cleanse your palate with a drink of something while smoking these. You noticed the dense smoke. The bitter taste is a buildup of tars in your mouth. If you take a sip of cola every couple of puffs, it will be much better. As far as alcoholic beverages go, Ommegang Belgian Ale is my personal favorite.
