Okay, stupid question... Does one have to do anything specific to be a BOTL, like hazing or anything, or just enjoy cigars?

The term BOTL is not easily earned. Some things that help define a BOTL:
* Showing that you have an interest in learning about all aspects of the cigar culture
* Helping other cigar enthusiasts who have less experience
* Establish a history of trust worthy trading and generousty
* Establishing a tradition of herfing with fellow enthusiasts
Basically earning your stripes and developing a solid reputation.
Many newbies start calling Member X a "true BOTL" because they hooked them up with a few cigars in their first bomb
That is a gross misintrepretation.
