I have never tasted the difference in using a Zippo lighter.

Wooden matches can sometimes be a nuisance to carry around and those torch lighters can sometimes be very expensive and tempermental (one piece of dust and they don't work properly)

Good ole trusty Zippo never lets me down. I have heard that you should hold the cigar near the top of the flame if the "theory" of the lighter fluid taste scares you.
