I usually smoke shorter cigars (less than 6") for a couple of reasons:
1. time
2. cigars still give me a head buzz (big uns knock me on my ass).

The more different cigars I smoke the more I find myself getting away from size types. Some cigars seem better in a Robusto than a Churchill for example. But I agree some day I'm going to try a Galaxia 10x100. Thats gotta be like a whole night of drinking in a cigar.

Depends on time, mood, even location at times. I always smoke smaller cigars when I'm fishing. Rothschild usually but sometimes a corona works.

Frankly, length doesn't matter much (or at least that's what your wife told you).
The way a cigar smokes is largely determined by the ring size (width).
A 7 inch lancero can take as long to smoke as 5 inch robusto, but they smoke differently. Pick what you like to hold in your mouth, which you prefer as far as the way the smoke hits your palate.
Longer just means you get to enjoy it more.
