You're right about one thing. I should have left out the quotes regarding the bubbleheaded sorority bimbo since cigar no baka did not use those words. I apologize for putting those words in his mouth, even though they were clearly implied by the verbiage he did use.
As for the accuracy of his statement, I won't deny that age brings wisdom. Perhaps he's right that as soon I cross some arbitrary age threshold, I'll undergo the transition towards the cerebral sophistication of members of the embattled majority party swirling down the drains of public opinion polls. For about 14 or 15 posts, this thread was a good-natured discussion of an Independent Texas gubernatorial candidate and his positions on the issues. Joshua chimed in with his seal of approval for Friedman's agenda. It was at that point you chimed in and destroyed the thread, oozing your usual slime. I specifically remember your response to my gracious (and far from "arrogant') decline of "bomb" offers. You said your profession as a private detective made you understand where I was coming from with concerns for protecting personal information, adding how much trouble you'd be in if certain people were to learn yours. For you to retroactively suggest that I was being "arrogant" strikes me as very petty, particularly when I gave you the reasoning behind my caution. A little over a year ago, I met up with a guy I talked to online and am certain I would have been raped had it not been for my roommate tagging along at a distance and barging in on the guy when he was getting creepy.
Contrary to your suggestion, I don't believe angering and "trying to prove a point" to CC86 on a message board puts me at the kind of risk that revealing personal info on a website frequented by hundreds of guys does. For all the condescending talk of how much "life experience" everybody here has compared to me, I can safely say that's one area where my level of "life experience" transcends yours, and until you've been through a situation as frightening as I was, I would submit you're in no position to judge my decision, let alone label it as "arrogant."
Aside from that and the CC altercation of the last two days, what other examples of "arrogance" are you suggesting that I've displayed? I do aggressively discuss political matters and did so on a thread that expired months ago, but have talked almost exclusively about cigars since. Meanwhile, CC86 has pistol-whipped how many dozen people with his trademark condescension? And has driven away how many new members branded "immature" who may have become constructive contributors.
I suppose the "raising Republican blood pressure" comment was arrogant, but I balk at CC's suggestion that if I had merely added a "smily" to it, the crisis would have been averted and we'd all still be friends. You'll notice the rest of that post was more or less concurring with his point of Gore losing his home state, which negates his tired suggestion that I "got caught trolling and am now trying to backpedal". So we both agree the blood pressure comment was marginally arrogant, but does it rise to the level of "slinging mud"....or qualify me for "snotty bitch" status? Frankly, I don't care that he resorted to juvenile namecalling and wasn't even really "offended" by it, but I wasn't gonna be publicly disrespected by a bully without firing back. It's not my nature, and I don't suspect it would be yours either if we were talking about anybody other than your online friend who sends you cigars.
As for your insistence that your wife and mother would never be the victim of one of CC's assaults, huh? This guy attacks just about everybody on the board. Why would he draw the line with them? Why is that inconceivable? Even if my demeanor was marginally pompous with the said comment (and again, that's quite a stretch to say that comment was "acting like a fool"), are you saying that your wife would never resort to that level of sarcasm?
If I had it to over again, would I have not taken CC's bait by commenting on his pointless trolling about the 2000 election? Of course not. But I can assure you that even if this altercation didn't happen Friday night, it was coming at some point. I have opinions that differ from CC's and he can't handle people who disagree with him without being fiercely disrespectful. The only way to have avoided his wrath would have been never posting, which is no more of an option to me than avoiding going outdoors for fear of getting beaten up by street toughs.
And by the way, "teaching him a lesson" are your words. I said I wanted to put him in his place. As I noticed, that was a futile goal as he thrives off conflict and has limitless time to devote to continually smearing people and declaring his victory even when he doesn't have a leg to stand on.
I guess the only thing about this incident that really got to me is how standing up to the bully has inspired the masses to rally to the side of the bully. Basil's point is well taken that my initial posts flaming CC were more effective because I didn't have any emotional stake then. It was only when GROWN MEN looked at the evidence of his unprovoked assault and still rallied around the "tough guy with the motorcycle" like insecure groupies rather than at least acknowledge that the power was in his hands TWICE to walk away from this fight without a bruise. And I still don't understand why he's entitled to be arrogant while nobody else is. Care to elaborate on that double standard....or are you seriously suggesting he's not arrogant?

Clearly, I underestimated the long-festering hatred for me among so many board members. I could tell CC86 didn't like me from the start, and I read a handful of posts by guys who thought cigars were strictly a male pasttime, but I guess I dismissed them as a chauvinist minority. Kevin7 apparently hates me because I have a vagina, while Shagaroo seems to hate me because I wear mini-skirts when I go out rather than petticoats or burkhas. Most unsettling was you, however, as you have put on a facade of civility towards me for months even though you have clearly been harboring some pretty deep resentment for me for quite some time, and ultimately taking this opportunity to throw everything and the kitchen sink at me. Perhaps you're right about my "immaturity" because nowhere outside of this board have I experienced the kind of visceral disdain I've seen in the last 24 hours from people who had smiled to my face up to that point. It certainly makes me wonder if my "friends" in the outside world are as big of phonies.
Rather than wallowing in self-pity, perhaps the best thing I can do is quit posting here. When I joined, I was looking for a place to occasionally banter about cigars. I wasn't looking for a daily commitment that required giving out personal information, reviewing and exchanging cigars. Perhaps there's a more appropriate forum wher I can casually discuss cigar issues without having to sign my name in blood to a litany of requirements that I'm deemed "arrogant" if I don't follow. Clearly, it'll be hard to recover on this board for the cardinal sin of sticking up for myself when verbally attacked. That way, CC86 can officially get the victory he's so hungry for and all of his robotic minions can bow to his shrine.
But at some point, I think you should ask yourself whether the presence of the "cigar board bully" around here is really worth all the collateral damage? At what point does driving away everyone who isn't willing to serve as either his echo chamber or his punching bag harm the board's long-term viability? At what point does it no longer help the board to have most of its members living in a constant state of fear of being subjected to one of his hourly unprovoked smackdowns? As you wave goodbye to one more board member fed up with the "mean girl clique" around here, maybe, just maybe you should start keeping a running total of everyone who disappears and decide if the long line at the exit sign is reflective of a well-functioning board

First of all - I am not a "private" detective - I am a police officer who is by title an Investigator. A HUGE difference. And while I understand your apprehension about giving personal information out on these boards - I don't understand your apprehension with the people that are on this board. As you can well understand, it is crucial to my safety that I not post personal information about myself as there are several not so nice people who would like to do harm to myself and my family. Yet - I don't have any problem sharing my address with most of the trusted members of these sites - because they are very decent people.
Clearly you don't get it - and you ARE very arrogant. I don't know if you think you are, but you are sure coming off that way. And it's getting worse as the days stretch on. Maybe you need to take a break - you're not doing yourself any favors by continuing to lambaste a decent group of guys - including CC.
And you are right - I have been, and remain civil towards you. I'm sorry I don't share your view of yourself. As disturbing to you that I am not "civil", it is equally disturbing to me that you've turned into this monster I was not expecting.
