Cigarsmokers.com is a member moderated community. We did not have a policy in place stating that making racist comments would get you banned and I don’t like enforcing policy’s retroactively, it seems way too fascist. I don’t like banning people at all, but it’s clear the community simply does not want to be associated with individuals who make racist statements.

I’ve read statements indicating that I didn’t act fast or decisively enough. You know what? Managing a bunch of pseudo anonymous members of an internet community isn’t an easy task. You are never going to please everyone and someone is always gong to end up whining like a little school girl.

I have decided to ban Manix permanently unless the community gets a public apology and the community accepts.

Manix you obviously can not post. If you want back in, then email me: miguelg[at]gmail[dot]com and I will post the apology to the community in a poll.

Not good enough. Hex while I appreciate your efforts toward fairness, the fair thing here is to close the door on this loser. Not under threat of people bailing, but because that's the obvious vote of this board. Retro nothing. Would you let someone who proudly justifies pedophilia or beating his wife continue to use your board just because there were no rules addressing such behavior before they were outed? An apology for bigotry that he claims to be proud of? Doesn't wash. And, he's just the type that'll say the words "I'm sorry" and go back to howdy doody, glad handing, board-humping bullshit. And you'll still have the same asshole - so full of bile that he uses sarcasm to demean his own mother's heritage. Hitler had the same problem wiht his Jewish heritage. pretty sure this whole thing has stressed hex out a bit and no one ever wants to have to ban members. i say the guy has done enough and if you don't think so and tcmm happens to lie his way back in, the members will make it a pretty unhappy place for him. not to mention every has an option in their user cp to ignore a particular member. how great is the net.

Hex, in my opinion you have handled this situation 100% perfectly! I couldn't of done it better myself. I would just stick to your guns and don't let all these people get to you. This is a great board and I enjoy checking in here nightly. If people leave, let them leave. Like you said, you can't make everyone happy. Impossible. I was here during all the talk of banning members and how shunned on it was.
