No offense Joe but if you'd look back at my ENTIRE "career" here so to speak, you might draw a different conclusion than just the two to three weeks that you've been here.

I'll give you a brief rundown, I came here on April 22nd of this year to specifically dog a known scammer and loser named Oblik. I was met with "HEY, WTF? Who are YOU to start all this $hit?" and once it was proven I was 100% correct in my assessment of this guy, darn near all of those who were lambasting me realized I was right and Oblik is now long gone and MANY MANY people recognized the "stand up BOTL" side of me. Same situation with Cocky Hoskins, SFG75 and a couple of other people that this place is far better off with them being gone (Amanda will soon be joining that distinguished list along with Corona Gigante

). What I find pretty amazing is that aside from the two shitheads (Amanda & Corona Gigante) nearly everyone else thinks I'm a "Stand up BOTL", well except you Joe but you did explain you wanted to vote for both

so I'll count you as one of those votes too

Something tells me that ole Corona Gigante is a little surprised to say the least at the outcome of his stupid-assed "poll" What a goddam moron

I don't write much on this site as I much prefer reading and learning form the multitude of erudite botls who inform it than to contribute my two pence worth of rubbish (I don't know much about cigars and only smoke one a month-ish.).

However, I think Corona Gigante has made a grave mistake here. CC is obviously a guy who knows his stuff and well respected on the board. Yes sometimes he can be a bit harsh but hey, take it as given that personalities will differ on such a site and go with the flow. Once again, if it's cigar advice you're after, CC seems to be consistently able to provide you with damn good answers!!

Bill definitely is a "true BOTL".... I have not had the chance to HERF with him yet but seeing the way he keeps scammers/thiefs and liars in check on a number of BBs he gets a thumbs up

I think this is a perfect opportunity to show how the phrase "More reading, less posting" shows true. If you're a newbie on Cigarsmokers, I recommend you follow this advice.

When I first came on board (I've been here about a month), the first few posts I read from CC gave me the impression the guy was an ass hat.

As I read more of his posts, that impression definitely changed for me.

1) CC is one of those types of guys that has a sarcastic personality that's pretty hilarious. You're either going to like it or not. I know because I'm very similar and there are people who don't like me because of it. I find this hard to understand and think those people just take life too seriously.

2) The guy isn't perfect (no one is), but most of the threads I've read where he has something to say against someone/something is for a reason and justifiable. There are very few posts I've read where he's made an ass out of himself and was wrong. He definitely thinks things through and has the evidence to back it.

Sure he comes on strong, but if you've seen the other contributions he's made to this board and the people he's hooked up...he's definitely a generous guy and has pitched in more than his fair share to cigarsmokers. What showed me he had a lot of class was when some guy on a board got screwed over on a trade. CC offered to step up and hook the guy up with some sticks.

Knowing that, it shows me he's a good guy and not an 'anger management class candidate' :). You just need to learn to deal with sarcastic people.

3) The guy has been around forever, that should say something. He cares about the board/people on it and makes certain (as well as others members here), that it's not defamed by disrespectful jerk-offs. You can also tell he's been around forever because he's quick to spot the douche bags and usually ends up being right about it.

Eh, I didn't mean for this post to become so long. I just wanted to justify my reasoning for why I think he's another example of a BOTL on this board.

I also wanted to stress to the newbies out there:

A) More reading, LESS posting.
B) Try your best to not take things so seriously / read into them.
C) The search feature is your friend so use it! If you don't know how, ask one of us.

I don't consider this poll to have been a grave mistake, nor do I think it backfired. I was genuinely interested to see how other people felt about Bill and now I know. I asked for a reality check and, suspicions of vote-rigging aside, I got one.

There's no denying I am surprised at the result. Many people, several of whom I have formed a favorable impression of over the last few weeks and whose opinions I respect, obviously feel that Bill has good qualities that I was--and, I have to say, remain--completely unaware of. I'm sure that if Bill put more of those good qualities on display in his public posts, this board would be all the more enjoyable for it.

As I said elsewhere, I appreciate the effort he and the other FOGs put in to keeping this place free of the sharks and scammers. But it is my perception that Bill just plain enjoys bullying people, especially younger people, for the sake of it and it's just gravy for him that some of them deserve it. That's just creepy for a guy his age.

I probably take it more personally than most other people because Bill (completely mistakenly) blew up at me the first few weeks I was here. I told him then that he was coming off like an abusive asshole and even though the mistake was subsequently cleared up I've never had reason to change my opinion.

Since then I've watched him take out his frustrations on several other more or less deserving candidates with an increasing sense of discomfort. Maybe it would have been better to call him on it privately instead of publicly: I'm not sure the result would have been much different. It might have spared us some of the more pointless of Bill's hundred plus posts since letting us know--was it Friday?--that he was quitting the board.
