I still don't understand the persistence of this embargo...
We certainly have no problem trading with China...
I thought it was the US reliance on Chinese food, but the recent trend of Cuban sandwiches and mojitos seems to have nullified that theory...
We have a military presence on their island, isn't that enough?
Utterly ridiculous.
I thought it was a tampon joke!
The Cuban Embargo does nothing but keep old political grudges alive. To rule out a sporting event that could do nothing but improve relations between the US and Cuba is assinine.![]()
Dammit, we agree on something. Does this mean I need to become pro-embargo?Originally Posted by cigarsarge

I never really understood the continued embargo on Cuba. The US trades with far worse countries than Cuba and they seem intent on punishing the little island as much as possible.
Is anyone really up to date on American political science? How about Economics? I would really appreciate your take on the Cuban embargo.

I heard some bantering on the radio last night about fielding a cuban exile team. Either in addition to or in place of a Cuban national team. Seems there's a feeling that if Cuba is allowed to field a team, it would consist of cuban nationals, missing out on a lot of Cuban-American talent...
I say let them all play! Isn't that the spirit of this thing?
