I agree just add a lip to it and you should be alright. get a nice tight seal. gorilla glue works great and I have never noticed any smell when it has dried.Originally Posted by SuperChuck

Is that stuff as good as it makes itself out to be? I've seen it in the big box home improvement shops, but I haven't tried it.Originally Posted by prophetic_joe
you can make the lip out of quarter round trim molding.

and then 45 degree the corners and make basically a picture frame so the flat sides face the inside wall and the top, with the round portion on the inside. That should allow enough wood to get some small nails in to secure it to the top.
However, I'm only an idea man. I couldn't actually put this together if I had too.
It's pretty good stuff, I have found that no glue is quite what they say it is but in the realm of glue I've found it to work well.Originally Posted by SuperChuck

Where at in Tn are you? I'm guessing Knoxville or close to it. The Home Depot or Lowes both carry small strips of wood for projects as well as different styles of quarter round and other molding. I wouldn't worry about using spanish cedar since it would be hard to find in the size strips you are looking for. It seems like a soft wood would seal better. You could probably get someone at the one of the stores to even cut the strips to length. The gorilla glue is a good idea also, I've used it before with no complaints. I have to head to Lowes this morning, I'll see if I see anything that might be what you need. What are the inside dimensions of the lid(where the strips would be attached)? length, width, depth.
if not spanish cedar then what wood? You can only use certain woods right?![]()
