Default My cigar tastes are ever changing it seems.

It's been a year and a half since I started cigars, and my palate just can't seem to decide on a favorite style. When I started, medium to full flavored maduros were my favorite game. Carlos Torano SC, IT Fire, RYJ Maduro, Onyx, Diablo, IT Fire Maduro, IT SF Maduro, etc. were all on my hit list. The other lighter cigars just tasted bland.

I seem to be leaning towards medium to mild bodied cigars with lighter wrappers now. I'm now enjoying cigars like Don Diegos, Ghurka, Santa Damiana, H. Uppmann, RYJ 1875, etc. I seem to be getting subtle flavors that before I just missed. I also used to favor Bourbon with a cigar, now it's good black fresh ground coffee that does the trick for me.

At any rate, you have to love cigars. There's always something new to explore. It makes you wonder what anyone can possibly see in cigarettes.

I see cigarettes as simply another type of drug delivery system, much like syringe for nicotine, as well as the other additives designed to increase dependence.

ok, I'm off the soap box.

I have noticed the exact same thing, and I agree with you 100%

    Brand Loyalty.

People are constantly asking me what beer I drink. Like I'm supposed to say "I drink Bud." I'm a beer geek! I drink everything!

There's a restaurant near me that boasts 69 beers on tap (with a rotating selection). Every time I go there I grab myself a beer menu and a pencil and mark off all the beers I've never tried. Usually it's between 3 and 5. :)

But, surprisingly, the majority of people are stuck in the brand loyalty mentality. Sony is the best, Budweiser is the best, Marlboro is the best, Mercedez is the best. Not based on any personal experience or surveys or anything other than flat-out brand loyalty.

    I don't have a "one brand" favorite.
Like my wine and beer I like my cigars at various stregnths, tastes, and lengths depending on what I am feeling, eating,or where I am smokeing,(outside, inside, windy etc.).
Like wine, cigars compliment food just eaten like spices.

I have days where everything I smoke taste the same, weather its mild or full, maduro, corojo,or natural.I guess it depends on my mood and how my palate feels. Those are the days I should just not smoke, and now,I don't.Its a waste of great cigars and a good experiance.

Also, did I just brush my teeth or eat/drink something after I brushed my teeth?Smokeing a good flavorful cigar after brushing your teeth in the morning does not do any justice to the experiance.I usually eat breakfast first then smoke.

I love maduro's and a large portion of my collection is maduro, but I find the maduro to be the one type of cigar I will get sick of faster than any other.

When ever I get asked what strength of cigars I like I always reply " I like them all " . I like mild , full and medium , I had a Diplo #2 the other day that was very mild but I still enjoyed it , later that day I had a RP sun-grown and enjoyed it . Taste is subjective and you will like what you like . I'm not a big maduro fan but there are some that I really enjoy(ERDM robusto larga Oscuro), most of my collection is either natural or sun-grown . As far as brand loyalty , I like Bud but when I go out to dinner I ask what is available and almost never order Bud unless they don't have anything else that I haven't tried or don't like . I love Guinness but I just can't drink it in the summer , too heavy . Bottom line is that tastes change throughout the year for what ever reason . Cheer's and puff puff .

I forgot to mention that I do have one rule of thumb in smokeing cigars...........I always smoke from mild to strongest in a day.I like working my way up the stregnth guide.
Like wine, never drink sweet before dry wine.

If you like the Torano Signatures, but want something a bit milder, give the Casa Toranos a try. They are a very nice, smooth creamy cigar.

Good suggestion Hex, and I have! As luck would have it, there were a few in the clearance bin. Churchill singles for $3 a pop! A very nice smoke. With the coolerdor, I'm starting to accumulate enough cigars where I can start buying boxes without the fear of only having a couple varieties to smoke. I notice you have fivers now. Either that or I didn't notice before. There's a few others in the line I would like to try.

A little birdy told me the Torano Exodus 1959s just got a 91 from CA. I'm going to be ordering a few more boxes in the next week or two, i'll grab an extra one for 5ers.
