    Default Oliva blue band

My last soccer trip to big "D" probably this spring - I had enough time to hit a couple of B & M's and found some Oliva maduros. These are the one's with the blue fabric band. About a year ago I bought some of these and liked them a lot. Then I looked for them and could only find the blue, paper bands. Cool, same thing, different package. Well, I didn't think they were as good as I remembered, so, I thought maybe different package, different blend, or something. But, I didn't go out of my way to buy them anymore. But today, I found the cloth bands - I thought they'd been discontinued maybe. I told the guy that I hadn't seen these in a while and he said that not many stores carry them anymore. I asked him are they still available and he said yeah. So I asked the guy what is the difference between the two, if any, and he said the two bands, both blue, but one cloth and one paper, designated two wrappers - one colorado and one maduro. Well, I told him that the cigar with the paper band is pretty dark, but that I'd noticed a difference in flavor, which he had just confirmed. I'd just grabbed two torps w/ the paper bands at the other store, and when I got to the car, I compared and the cloth banded stick was damn sure a shade darker. Well, I went to my computer to see wtf, but can find nothing - dealers don't list different ones - just maduro and natural.

So, BPP, or CC, or somebody who knows, WTDF? Is there two different dark Olivas or am I the victim of some dark cigar brainwash conspiracy?

Same cigar, paper bands are cheaper. Oliva makes great cigars and I guess that saved some $ . It is the same cigar though just the packaging has changed.

Wow, ya got me Ted, I only know of and smoke the ones with the fabric bands. I'm usually a maduro fan but with these cigars, I favor the Oliva "O" Bolds (red satin band) over the Oliva "O" Maduro (blue satin band).

The Oliva "O" Bolds are one of the few medium priced domestics that I like.

I had the torpedo with a paper band last night. Definitely the same flavor profile of the smaller robustos with satin label. An outstanding smoke that just went on and on.
