Default My day care had a child almost die! In critical condition!

Well, of all the headaches I don't need! Our Day Care provider (Starz Academy), one of the best in the area, just had a 2yo toddler critically injure himself. The class was playing in the yard, a gate was left unlatched. The child wandered into the parking lot, found a car with a partially open window and a stuffed animal in the back seat. He got his head stuck and hung himself on the window. He was there long enough to lose conciousness and require CPR. The poor little baby has a broken neck and oxygen deprivation damage, the extent of which are yet to be seen. He may well die or be seriously disabled. This is a TERRIBLE tragedy!

Chances are good that this day care provider will shut down after all is said and done. I imagine many employees will go elsewhere, some will surely be fired, a lawsuit is for certain. Investigations will happen. People are going to leave and the business' name will be forever tarnished.

I want my baby out before they close their doors. There are only three openings at the other highly rated Care provider in town. My wife is having a fit because she knows the people and children at the current place. I understand that, but that place is now a sinking ship in my book and it's time to bail. Customers and employees are going to start leaving. I don't want to wait until I'm forced into a more difficult decision than we already are.

I really hate this. The whole thing just makes you want to hug your babies and be a stay at home parent.

OMG that is a horrific thing to happen to anyones child. I think moving your child to another place is a good idea now before there are no spaces left in the better daycares. Children that young need a lot of supervision and not knowing the child was missing for any length of time is pretty hard to believe. My prays are with you and your family thank god it was not your child.

OMG, if that was my child I would be on fire! Our prayers go out to the little one and their family! I couldn't even imagine nor try to imagine what they are going through now.

I agree, time to move child to a new day care.

That has to be the greatest fear a parent can have....knowing that something bad can happen to their children when they least expect it. This tragedy is heartwrenching.

Finding good daycare is hard enough without having to worry about your child's safety as well. My daughter's daycare has a double gate system to all playground areas with a bullpen area (fenced-in walkway) between the gates. These areas are visible from all playgrounds and are monitored by a single person whose job is only to monitor the comings and goings of all children. It looks a little like a prison in many ways as the fences are six feet tall. I used to wonder if all that were really necessary, but now after hearing this story, I feel thankful for the daycare facilities advanced thinking.

I can't and don't want to imagine how I would feel if something were to happen to my daughter like this. I hope you can find a new provider Kenyth.

We had a few instances of things like that in Memphis lately. One where a child was left on a day care bus in 90 degree heat and died. Another where a day care bus driver was smoking marijuana. He crashed the bus and killed a child inside.

Good luck in finding a good day care provider that meets your expectations.

It's a shame when things that could have been prevented happen. Your kids are the most valuable possesion you have.

    An update.....

Doctors started bringing him out of the drug induced coma yesterday and he was moving all around.

Doctors said that he suffered NO BRIAN OR SPINAL CORD INJURY and should be going home tomorrow!!

    Everyone’s prayers have been answered!!!

That's great to hear, what a relief, it's always such a terrible tragedy when things like this happen to kids.
There's only two kinds of cigars, the kind you like and the kind you don't.

    Glad to hear that Kenyth.......
I'm not big on doing reviews, tobacco doesn't taste like "cocoa" or "nutty" or "mocha" to me, it tastes like freakin' TOBACCO. I know what I like and I really don't care what other people think of other cigars. I've never read a review and said to myself "Wow, that sounds like a cigar I'd like to try!"
