I have to be honest - I'm very confused, because it REALLY surprises me that both you and Sid are showing some side to your personalities I've never seen before...

If you didn't see this side of my personality before, you weren't looking. There are some things/topics that I get fired up about. I rarely start the shit, but will fling it back at will, and in large quantities, when provoked.
What I have a problem with here, as well as hp, is when a poster gets into a good discussion, and is asked to back off, when the other posters are allowed to continue unrestrained. That is the bullshit. If you want to be like hp, go right ahead.

It is not news that I prefer self moderated smash mouth boards. I have a home here and another board that take that approach.

Boards of this nature do have the potential of running off people that might be positive contributors...But a vast majority of people realize if they are not shills and pass the thick skin test things will work out.

People have come here, pissed in the Wheaties, taken a little verbal hazing, and became good members. Shills and AssHats have departed rather quickly.

We have a good group of people here. SDMV if you want to stay by all means do. You're gonna take some heat...Hell we all take some heat here from time to time. If you don't like the atmosphere here than do what you must.

You know, I was agreeing with you on Partyasshatguy, and I still do. I agree, sometimes we need to first try giving folks a nudge in the right direction and not just immediately jump bad on them. Things have gotten out of hand and we need to tone it down.

one of the reasons i left CR (where i was an admin) was because of the bullshit....i assure you that barry was goaded into slinging shit...most likely with korryp who is a piece of shit,imho.....i assure you that barry is a really good guy,a good friend,and though you may not like the fact that he's a democrat and hates shrub,he'd be a good addition here.....if i'm going to bring people over here..i'm only bringing those that would make a good addition..

I think I remember reading a post here about not jumping in on a thread where the "established" members were fucking with an "asshat" because you might not have all the facts. Well, with the linked CR thread, same thing. There was a lot of history between me and those others involved in the thread that you obviously don't know about, not that it's any of your business. I can smoke and joke with the best of them, but most of those threads began with them attacking me and my positions on several topics, as well as my career etc. I was giving it right back. It's not in my nature to take shit from anyone. HP was the same kind of crap. They expected me to take shit from people and not return fire, and I was banned for it. BTW, I was only banned from hp once. I chose not to return because they wanted me to ask, or more accurately, beg to get back in. I never even considered going back to that shithole.
This BB seems to have a lot in common with HP. Same shit, different handles.

we're all the same people we have been, sid. i agree with you 100% about the quick trigger pulling, but more people disagree. you're taking this way too personal. you're bringing people here that don't like the way things are done here, or they don't get along with the general population of this board. what you think to be a good addition isn't necessarily a good addition in everyone else's opinion. it shouldn't mean you don't belong here. we can't agree on everything.
