Paying Duty into Canada

Hey fellow Canucks (or others with knowledge on this topic),

Have any of you guys come back from across the border and declared over your limit? (ie. after 48 hours you can bring 50 smokes back duty-free but say you come back with 70 and declare the 20 over) Which sticks do they ding you on? From my point of view I would group the expensive sticks as part of the 50 so you pay duty on the lesser prices... any clue how that works? Knowing Governments they get to pick
