  1. Default Montecruz, Cohiba, Montecristo

    Hi, everyone.

I am new to this forum and I am not a cigar smoker. I'm just trying to help my father find a home for some cigars. He was a collector and there are a lot of them to get rid of. If you are not interested in them yourself, I would appreciate any suggestions about how to sell them beyond this board.

EDIT: NONE ARE MORE RECENT THAN 1991. MOST ARE 1982 OR EARLIER. CONTACT FOR DETAILS. They are:
    Montecruz 210 Double Claro 6 1/2" 40 ring
    Montecruz 210 Sun Grown 6 1/2" 40 ring
    Montecruz 220 Sun Grown 5 1/2" 40 ring

There are also a couple boxes of:
    Cohiba Triangulo 5 3/4" 48 ring
    Montecristo #2 6" 48 ring

You can email me at ultramerican@yahoo.com

    Thanks for reading this.

These were purchased mostly in the 1960's and -70's. They are:
    Montecruz 210 Double Claro 6 1/2" 40 ring
    Montecruz 210 Sun Grown 6 1/2" 40 ring

On the slight, miniscule, off chance you aren't yet another asshat spamer I am gonna give you a simple heads up. This isn't how we work around here. If you don't want to be a part of the community, we don't want you here. We get posts like these constantly and they are ALWAYS bullshit posted by scammers or spammers and we like to rake the poor dumb bastards that post them over the coals. Occasionaly one is dumb enough to stick around and entertain us, but not often.

That being said, you can imagine how popular you are around here at this point. So, if you are not just another useless piece of shit, in a long line of useless pieces of shit, then start making amends now. Otherwise, buckle up... we like fresh meat!

You have no history in our community - no reputation - no nothing. Understand that without reputation and history, no one has any idea if these cigars are legit, and more importantly, whether they've been properly stored during that entire time. Just because you have them, doesn't mean they're good. That's a long time to hang around - and during that time there's a good chance they hadn't been properly stored...

I'd suggest you would have much better luck hanging one of those "For Sale" signs at your local grocery store - or donating them to the troops.

Thanks a lot. These were stored at Dunhill in New York. They just closed the humidor there and they sent all my father's cigars to his home.

I don't want to identify myself on this board because I don't know who's reading it. I tried to sell them a while back at another forum, but it brought out a lot of hostility from the users there. I'd be happy to email anyone with a sincere interest in these or who has any good ideas for me.

You've already been through this on another board and you came back for seconds???

I can understand ignorance, but this is now sheer folly....

Hey, Shag - great catch in quoting his post. This guy sounds suspiciously like Backdrifter from CP a while back, who deleted all of his posts after he was told it was bad form to sell cigars in his first post.

There was some very wise and frank discussions about what it is you have - and I think you should have probably heeded advice, rather than taking offense to what was said...

Mr. UltraAmerican - I think the thing you may have missed is this board consists of a group of individuals that all share the same passion - cigars. We love to discuss them, we love to buy them, we love to trade them, we love to smoke them. With that in mind, it is a "brotherhood" of sorts - hence, the BOTL (Brotherhood of the Leaf).

That being said, this group of individuals is highly protective of each other. A new person walking into the situation would not understand it because it defies the norms of society. But, if you stick around, you will find a great group of generous people, who look out for each others interests. No one on this board, especialy the members that have been around for a while, will tolerate anyone attempting to take advantage of the others on the board. That is the backlash you are feeling.

If you're walking in here for the purpose of selling your cigars, you have already been told how to go about that. Instead of flaming the board, maybe you should become a part of the community and take advantage of the knowledge of some of the members of this board. From the sounds of what you have, I doubt seriously you're going to get any kind of serious offer on any of the auction sites - and you certainly can't just create a web page to sell them. It makes sense that you would come to a place like Cigar Smokers because the greatest chance of hooking up with someone who may be interested in your cigars lies here. As an added bouns, there are members on this board that can tell you what those cigars are worth, and where and how to sell them. Whether you realize it or not, You've actually come to the right place to sell your cigars.

You choose to come in here like a bull in a china shop. It's very much like walking into a cocktail party of people you don't know and opening up a briefcase trying to sell your cigars. You're going to get tossed out on your butt. That is just not socially acceptable.

There are quite a few cigars boards on the net - you'll find them all over the place. But I gotta tell you - every one will greet you with the same suspicion, and will be as defensive as this one. If you think it's just limited to this board - I'm afraid you're sadly mistaken.

So - either learn how to act socially in an on-line cigar community, or pack you're briefcase and walk out the door before you find yourself being tossed like a door to door salesman...

As of now, three people have viewed this post.

I can understand a first post looking for a sale being viewed with suspicion. I am not a spammer or scammer. I hope this thread doesn't provoke any more unpleasantness. If anyone has any positive advice for me, I'd love to hear it.
