As a relatively new member of this board I have been sitting back watching this thread develop. I want to preface this post by saying there is absolutely no disrespect intended for any other board members; long-time posters as well as anyone new.

It struck me as ironic that, based on your 11 year old daughter scrolling through this web site, something like VW’s av would be unacceptable and yet dropping “F” bombs, saying “GD”, and talking about a woman “trying to piss in her own mouth” is somehow acceptable. You go on to point out in another post about how you “see a difference between profanity and degradation of women” and yet there is another long-time member, kevin7, that has the following tag line under his name, in large print, and next to a moving av that is definitely an eye-catcher.

How can the word “MF” be anything but degrading and yet it appears to be totally acceptable.

Hopefully one can see how all of this can be confusing to new members. One long-time member says this site is to be appropriate to the point that his 11 year old daughter could scroll through it and then another long-time member turns around and says it’s not to be family friendly.

Again, not to be disrespectful, but all this can be very confusing to someone just starting to participate. One of the reasons I am writing this post is because my 16 year old son did indeed peruse this thread (BTW – he thought the tag line of Bkcloud114 “Has the biggest member” was hilarious). My fault for leaving it up but I have been trying to instill in him that cigar smoking requires maturity and now I am stuck with the task of explaining that what he has been reading is not a reflection of all cigar smokers and in fact probably not a true reflection of even the individuals making these comments.

I have really enjoyed the short period of time I have been on this board. I have come to an understanding that, although I am almost 53 years old, there is a lot for me to learn about cigars and cigar smoking. I have come to respect some members of this board like bigpoppapuff, godfather, and others. It is my intention to continue to be a part of this board and, over time, gain acceptance. However, if being a part of this board means I have to view the use of “F” bombs, “MF’s”, or degrading comments like the tampon remark of kevin7 as acceptable, then I was way off in my initial assessment this board.
