Default Ashton Cabinet series VSG Review

Ashton reps were here in town at my local shop today and I decided to have a look see. Never smoked an ashton befor so I was a little excited. Here is my review:

    Size: Longsdale 6 1/2 x 42
    Price: $8.50
    Lighter: Double torch
    Cut: Double gilotine

    Apperance:
They have the same look as an Opus in the sence that they look rough. Not a real ritch color and not too light. I am usualy a sucker for a Maduto wrapper but this kind of jumped out at me.

    Wrapper:
Very good construction. Very firm and just a toutch glossy.

    Burn:
    Burned very even and consistant.

    Ash:
Light grey and heald together very nicely. Good solid ash with a clean break in the ashtrey every time.

    Flavor:
At first it lit up like an JdNA. Very spicy but not harsh. Had a good kick that you had to be ready for. Full body and the taste was very complex. There was a lot going on with the taste at first but smoothed out as you went along. Once I was half way through a slight nut taste came about and lingered for the rest of the smoke. This was the hilight of the cigar. Toward the final third it mellowed out and became very creamy but still had the distiguished power of a good full bodied cigar.

    Smoke/Draw:
Not the best draw but still good. Easy to puff but not too easy. There was a suprisingly large amount of rich creamy smoke with every draw. I'm a sucker for a lot of volume so this was a definet plus.

    Over all:
Great stick but not for the light at heart. I had to sit down half way through and the feeling of a melow day has set in now. It is a very complex smoke that had a lot of lavor, volume and a good draw. I would rate this at a 94.

Default If you like the Ashton VSG line try......

Arturo Fuente Double Chateau's with the sungrown wrapper.

I know that at one time Fuente owned half of Ashton but I don't believe they do any longer, but still do blending for them.

I'm a big lover of sungrown wrappers.

Also, if you can get them, try the new Rocky Patel sungrown stuff too. I'm smoking a RP Sungrown Churchill right now and they're grrrrrrrreat!

no one else seems to really care if there are spelling mistakes in people's post. you've already pointed out that he's not a strong speller. there's no need in doing it again except just to piss someone off. ya know what: i don't use the shift key. i type in all caps at work so its become a habit i can't seem to break. you should comment on that every time i post if it makes you feel like more of man. i come here to discuss cigars and other things and have friendly conversation. not to read this immature, unnecessary childishness.

can't we all just get along?

I have not teamed up with anyone....us botl have to stick together if that is what you mean. I alone did not put you on that list bro...that is not a easy list to get put on. That my friend is the effort of several people you have traded and sold fake Cohiba to.

No attacks, just the facts. You see, the internet is not so big that you can just jump around from forum to forum screwing people and that list, although maybe not important here, is important at most of the forums.

I warned you that your days of trading fake Cohiba are over, but you would not listen to reason.

Back to the topic, nice review. Spelling problems or nat! lol

I have no idea who "Dave" is, your paranoia is getting the best of you. No one is "screwing" you, you're doing a fine job of that all by yourself by passing off fake Cohibas.

And no, I am not MoheganSon, you Island of the Misfit Toys boys gossip way too much among yourselves. You'd be wise to not listed to idiots like SFG75 and PuroMooch.

    Interesting response, Oblik...

You are trading fake cigars, according to a number of independent sources, and you think people are "joining forces" to gang up on you. I don't believe CoventyCat86 has any connection to Dave, that I know of. And I don't know Dave. I do know and trust CoventryCat86's opinions. So, I suppose there are some connections, but certainly not the conspiracy you believe it to be.

From what I'm hearing from respected members of the cigar board communities (much more than just the three of us), I should be skeptical of any trades I do with you. I will heed their warning, unless you can show documented proof your stuff is legit... Of course, it doesn't much matter, does it Carlos. You probably don't want to trade with me anyway. You don't know me, and I might send you fakes.

Lashing out against others, rather than addressing the root of the problem is no way to settle the dispute. Certainly, if you present facts to the well-respected person who put the bad trader list together, your name would be removed. BTW- as far as I know, none of the three of us are in any way associated with the author of the bad trader list, so you can squelch that conspiracy theory as well.

The reason you made the list is very simple. The person who put that list together only adds names if there is proof and documentation. He's respected because he's fair. You, on the other had, choose to lash out at others as ganging up on you and ignore the truth. So now the great banning begins???

I worry about my reputation all the time. I guard it by being honest and fair. I don't believe you will hear anyone down my trade reputation. I believe trust is built through solid respectful relationships. Once trust is lost, it is difficult if not impossible to regain. That's why I conduct myself in a way that establishes and values the relationships I develop.

Think about your reputation, Oblik. It will follow you everywhere!!!

Well sir, if you were the object of Oblik's past misdeeds and the subject of his personal attacks you'd feel just as I do.

Oblik is the one who thinks he's a "know it all" On the Island of the Misfit Toys (LetsTalkCigars), he started abusing a friend on mine who noticed too that Oblik cannot spell to save his life. Oblik with his immature and abusive attitude told my friend "he could run circles around......" him in "real subjects" like math because Oblik supposedly is some kind of engineer. My friend told Oblik that he doubted that very much since he was an engineer with 20 years of experience in his line of work.

You can keep your "respect" Speaking of which, did you parents ever teach your respect or manners? My guess is no...... This is a huge problem with kids your age these days.

Getting back to the TOPIC, I just bought Ashton Cabinets today. The owner of the store recommended them as a medium smoke and said they'd go well with a Scotch or Brandy. I can hardly wait to uncork my Talisker Distiller's Edition single malt (smoky taste, too, from the Isle of Skye) with some friends and try out the Ashtons.
