Agree or Dissagree?

I’m not sure how many have tried most of these but if you have or know about them, would you say you agree or disagree? If not, your suggestions?

I think everything depends on your personal taste for strength, etc

But I would not try the curly head as I don't thinkits a good representation of AF line at all

Baccarat is very mild and a unique mild at that -- not representative of a mild segment in general. Want a nice mild smoke get a Fonseca
Punch grand cru is ok but people either love or hate punch. Mild to medim try a CAO gold, Gispert, Gurhka vintage, H.Upmann
Oliva is a good cigar might want to compare the regular to he grand cameroon

I don't like the AF curly's much. Kind of flavorless. Just my opinion. But they are certainly much better than gas station smokes, and most B&M's have them in stock. So if you're looking for an easy to find smoke on the cheap, these will do!

Disagree - it's one thing for them to recommend beginner smokes (of substance) - but another to recommend dog rockets. If you start a hobby - say cigars - or wine - and if the first couple you smoke or drink taste like crap, you're not likely to continue.

Also to note - beginner doesn't necessarily equal inexpensive and vice versa - it should be good mild to medium sticks that aren't gonna cost you $10+ each.

I disagree. As a beginner, you would want to start with something really nice, it doesn't have to be the best or the most expensive, but it DEFINITELY shouldn't be the cheapest. I started out with ISOMs (which may have been bad), because now all I care to smoke are ISOMs and nothing else.

Disagree...The Oliva and Punch are the only ones I would even consider. In choosing a beginner cigar one should talk to people he trusts...fellow smokers. They can leat him down the path to a cigar that will match his taste and budget.

Don't believe all you read about cigars. There is way too much marketing hype. The Ashton ESG comes to mind...Not that much different than the regular VSG line...Except for an inflated price.

Top five?? Not in my book.

Read a whole bunch of reviews from several cigar forums, online sources, cigar magazines, etc. and it will become clear that there is no such thing as an agreed upon list for any cigars.

And the lists change. My top 20 gars this year aren't the same as last year or 5 years ago.

This poll is what I read quite frequently: People wanting exact directions to the destination.

"Tell me exactly which cigar to smoke, at which moisture content, exactly how to light and smoke it, so I can experience some exact taste."

It dosen't work like that, enjoying good quality cigars is a journey .

i thinki the 3 that i mentioned might be a bit too full flavored for a beginner stick....

i'd recommend la fontana,leon jimenes,fonseca,fonseca vintage,and JM dominicans as excellent beginner sticks....the guy that wrote the article did it when he took his head out of his ass....

and remember...you'll have slightly different flavor profiles with cigars from the D.R.,honduras and nicaragua.....make note of them and decide which you prefetr...
