I never really used a punch much,I carry a work knife sharp enough to do surgery with so I just neatly trim off as much cap as I want.
depending on the initial pre light draw this could be a little of almost all of the cap

Once you get a good feel of part of the cap on your lips, you'll never go back. Not only that, but you don't have to worry about wrapper issues and the like with a bullet pierce. I've been using mine for awhile now and just received two replacement blades. Yes, Drake's advice is pretty solid.

I was gifted a hand carved bullet cutter from a very generous BOTL named Penguin.. this has got to be one of the nicest punches I have ever seen.!!
Thing works just as well as it looks..
Please do us all a favor and just go away Scotty. I think Zac has the Island back up and running so you can leave CigarSmokers.com anytime now.Originally Posted by SFG75

Every kind of cutter has their respective advantages and disadvantages. I prefer 'em in this order I guess.
1.-Pierce cutter
2.-Single blade
3.-A razor blade
4.-My mouth
5.-Double bladed guillotine
6.-"V" cutter
With that being said, it's all a matter of individual preference I guess. I know folks who are just crazy about Xikars or their "v" cutters, but I insist that piercing is the way to go.![]()
I bought a cigar form a small shop in a casino (one of my first smokes) and they used a "v" or wedge cutter. I liked it alot but they are hard to find and I have heard that they dull easily. All I have ever used is the punch and DBG. I have heard that the single blade style can crush the cigar . . . never actually tried one though.
SFG . . . so please explain (to this Noob) what a pierce cutter does (and don't just say "it pierces it") I have never heard of one of these.

i have a friend that pulls out is pocket knife and cut a slit in the cap of the cigar. he loves it. still haven't tried it
