Thread: JR Cigars

    Default JR Cigars

I'm talking about JR's alternative cigars. I have tried two in last couple of days. Tried the A. Fuenta and the Cohiba. Didn't care too much for the Cohiba, A. Fuenta wasn't that bad. Just wondering if any of you guys actually like an alternative to a cigar? I'm not just looking for dirt cheap smokes, but for a buck and a half, it's worth a shot. let me know.

also, a sad, related story: when i went on a mission to try some knock-offs the other day, i saw they had some "factory rejected maduros". and i'm a sucker for a maduro. love em. so i had to try one, it was like a dollar something, so i wasn't out much. broke it out tonight, and it was horrible. put it out almost immediately. decided to perform an autopsy over my toilet on the pathetic thing. a freaking short filler. why even put this thing in the humidor? come on!

I didn't care for the JR alts that I had. Iv'e heard there are a few that people like. The JR ultimates are supposed to be a lot better. If you're looking for something in that price range a lot of people on here swear by the Roly bundles(Puros Indios seconds) they can be had for just over a buck a piece .

Another cheap smoke to try are the Consuegras (Villazon seconds). I'm sure someone on here will be able to tell you which ones are good. I haven't tried these either.

    Hope this helps.

    Default Try to connies

The Conseugas are seconds from Villazon and are great if you like the punch or hoyo type cigars. There is actually a reference sheet for which cigars connies are seconds of... As I type this I am sitting on a bundle (25) connie No. 18M which is supposed to be seconds of Punch after dinner - My favorite out of those available.

    Haven't tried the Indio though.

I've heard good things about the Roly bundles. For the price, I don't think you can go wrong.

    ChefChris,
Let us know what you think of the ROly's. I was about to buy a bundle of their torps, just now, while reading this post. Aint Firefox nice, you can have more than one tab running at once. Had the credit card number typed in and everything. But I just bought a bunch of nice cigars yesterday, and the week before and the week before that... Sanity took hold, this time. And there's always next week.

know what you mean. i'll let em sit a while and get back to you. i think it ended up being like 28 bucks for a bundle of 25.

i downloaded firefox not too long ago and i won't let me update the macromedia flash player for some reason. so i'm still using stone age internet explorer.

  14. Thumbs up JR Alternatives

My friends and I buy JR Alternatives all the time. We smoke about a bundle a month each. So I can tell you with the authority of use that the Alternatives to the Hoyo De Monterrey Sultan Size 7.25 X 54, tastes exactly like the original which we smoked before finding the JR Alternatives.

    Hope this helps.

P.S. We think that the Alternative to the Hoyo is made by the same company that makes the real Hoyo's.
