I can only mimmick what everybody else already stated. You should have to change nothing about yourself for anybody. I can empathize with paying down bills, etc. I am in the same position. However, it's about priorities. I don't buy what I can't afford, and it never comes before priorities.

If you truly enjoy a good smoke (and drink, or both) every now and then, do it. If the lady doesn't like it she needs to go. You will be miserable in the long run if you change yourself for someone else.
