Here's what transpired regarding "The (non)Bet"
First, Bill offered to bet:
Barry countered, albeit with "dog rockets" as the wager:
No one, the two here or the rest of the entire board, took this seriously because it is neither a bet Bill would seriously take (one would think), nor one Barry would seriously offer (one would hope). Bill then pushed for clarity:
Barry countered with an oxymoron that still left a definite meaning up in the air:
The dog rocket term was still there, and "premium" in quotation marks denoted what? 'Not really'? 'fat chance"? Given the animosity in this and other threads, who knew what the fuck "'premium' dog rockets" could've meant?
The day after the elections, Barry remarked that Bill had never actually taken any bet here:
. . . and here:
Operative phrases being, " . . . but you said you didn't want my 'dog rockets'." and, ". . . you never responded to the increased stake.", respectively.
Details regarding what the wager was ever actually on remain debatable as well, as they were never fully clarified.

Equality is not seeing different things equally. It's seeing different things differently.

Ted, you forgot to mention that he NEVER made any of his posts in the thread where I offered the bet. Had he actually been serious about it (which he clearly was not) he would have posted in the original bet thread.
Original bet thread
Can anyone find a post by barry in that thread where he said he was interested in the bet?
I didn't think so.....![]()

I'm starting to understand the logic... Barry's not really calling everyone an "asshole" or insinuating you are all "butt hurt" because he put those words in quotation marks. Just like "Premium" and "dog rockets", which meant he was going to send good cigars. He clearly must be calling everyone something else other than what they he said they were...
So - if I'm reading this right - I guess it's left up to ones imagination as to what he meant - because he didn't mean it the way it was taken...![]()
It makes sense!!!
I think...
That thread sum's up the whole deal pretty good. I fell more informed now. I'm not being sarcastic either. It appears that being sarcastic has gone out of style, again, not being sarcastic.![]()
The very existence of flame-throwers proves that some time, somewhere, someone said to themselves, "You know, I want to set those people over there on fire, but I'm just not close enough to get the job done." -unknown
