Ok, so what do these babys go for in the U.S. shops? I just went to a local shop here and saw them for the first time up here in Toronto... The Perfexion #5 was over 25$ and I think it was the Robusto at $55.00.(plus sales tax)

Those prices sound about right for the B&M's in my area.
Only problem is they sell them as fast as they get them. So you can't just walk in and say "I'll take ten Robusto's for $250".
The clerk will tell you that he will only allow you to buy two Robusto's for $50 and smole while he says it.
In spite of all evidence to the contrary, the entire universe is composed of only two basic substances: Magic and bullshit.

The reason we do this (we as in most retailers) is to give everyone the opportunity to purchase these cigars. Some retailers only get 2-4 boxes every 6 mo. I don't sell boxes usually, the one time I did it was a few years ago, and we were hit with them 3 days before inventory. I have guys that call up trying to order boxes of these cigars every time I get them in. I don't mail order to anyone that is not already a customer in good standing. I also do not put non-customers on our call list. B&M's are all about customer service, I'm not going to sell out all my good stuff to someone that either never shops at our store or only buys "had to get sticks". It would be a disservice to our customers that wait all year to get a few sticks. Also this prevents asshats from buying boxes in the store and selling a $9 stick for $25.
It's actually more the norm than the exception and it seems to be a good thing, in my opinion. Every B&M does it that I have ever walked into. There are usually a few boxes with a sticker that says 2 per day per customer. I couldn't understand it either at first, but it is nice to be able to walk into a B&M and actually find some pretty interesting stuff. Besides, I probably wouldn't want to buy a box of $25 sticks anyway. If I find something I like, I usually go get a box on the internet for a lot less than the B&M can afford to offer it to me for. But because of the policy I tend to walk into the local B&M more often than I would just to see what they've received in the past week or two. And, of course, once I'm in there I never leave without something.
So, it's actually good for the business (more traffic) and good for the customer (better opportunity to try some of the harder to get stuff,) although I think that Fuente probably overdoes it a bit with their limited releases.
Are you people ttrying to tell me they sell the Opus line in an actual store???
Ha. I'll believe it when I see it.

I see where you're coming from but I just don't think it is right to limit a customer like that. In the shop I go to, I don't go often, but still it is the only one I go to. They carry Opus and I never see any limitations. I've never seen any limitations period, only they are too expensive.
Yes, but most internet sellers don't buy from Fuente & Newman. They get them from a 3rd party.
This is another practice I hate. Inflating margins. And keep in mind, just because a store has them doesn't mean they're an authorized reseller. They again can get them from a 3rd Party. Also there are parts of the country that these rare sticks don't sell that well. Occasionally a customer will come in and tell us they bought a box at a store because they just weren't selling there.

I have to disagree. I don't think it's fare to the 100's of customers that don't get to buy cigars that are only available once a year because some greedy customer for what ever reason buys the only 4 - 6 boxes I get to sell. I'd rather have a few pissed off customers because they aren't allowed to buy a box, so that my other customers may enjoy these cigars.
I agree with this, but I also think as mentioned it depends on where you are. In places with a number of customers or say in New York, and larger cities they sell fast. really fast... in more backwater places it might not be a big deal if someone were to buy a box.
