Don't buy the opus. There are enough shops around Northern MA southern NH that you can get them at for a lot less.
That being said, was that opus in a individual coffin (box)
As for those other cigars

TRy some Arturo Fuente Maduro's. I like those.
If the guy is selling Opus for $45, find a new shop. Give the D.C. Maximus a try as well as the Padron Anny. I also really enjoy the Rocky Patel Olde World Reserve, but don't let them gouge you on that either.
If you are looking for variety without feeling buyer's remorse in the end, try the Newbie Sampler thread in the exchange section. Participating members should be able to give you a nice sampler you may not normally get to try from your local B&M (especially if they are charging you $45 for that Opus).
If you are just starting out in the cigar hobby, you may want to hold off in making big purchases like that. Your pallate might not enjoy a $45 cigar compared to a nice $7 cigar. It it just sucks when you spend all that dough on a single cigar, and then wished you had bought that box of "go-to smokes" instead.
PS - You may want to consider looking into another B&M or start ordering cigars online.

Thanks for the advice guys! All his other prices were pretty much right there. Padron Anniversary-$18, Ashton 50-around $10, CAO Brazilia $8, Ashton ESG 21-$19
Do these seem super high? I think he is just trying to play on my lack of knowledge and the thrill of the chase with the Opus.
Which padron is that? If it's the 40th anniv. then that's a deal.
Otherwise the prices seem with in a buck or two.
Went in today and checked out the Opus it is in a coffin. They are the Forbidden 2004.
On another note. I had an Ashton VSG that bunred horribly!! It fell apart, wrapper came off, and it canoed! Very unpleasing for $12!
