I am fully capable of independent thought... And I don't always agree with CC. It's not about getting each others backs, its about what I believe is right. And if you disagree with me, that's okay - just don't expect me to stand by and watch...

Because you said you like it at the Island because there's no CC over there. You keep saying your sick of all of this arguing and appear to support banning certain members to rid this place of the arguing. You've led me to believeyou really like it over at the Island... Your kind of place, isn't it??? Maybe I misread your posts....

BTW- you're the FIRST person I can think of that has EVER said I was not fair. I've been around for a long time, and that's the first time. Strange....

Oops, I take it back - my kids sometimes say I'm not fair.... But that doesn't count.

I am currently a member of about 5 cigar boards. I have only been smoking cigars for about 6 months. The board ltc was the second board I join. I was there all of a week before the shit hit the fan that first time and I was locked out for a solid week, while they decided who they wanted to let back in. I consider myself as lucky to have been allowed to join the new board before it died and it switched back to what is going on over there now. Before it died we were getting alot of new members every week by referral or by invitation.

These guy's helped me alot in the beggining, I have never participated in a pass or spilt with anybody. I have seen them go around and people have problems and solve them like adults and I have seen them go around and people act like total jerks. I do not have time to waste on this stuff.

My take on this, We can all be a little arrogant at times just give each other some room to screwup and when they or you do, just accept it as that a screwup. Try to act like an adult, stop jabbing at each other to keep it going, If one person would take it upon theirself not to reply it will end.

I posted a thread along these line over at ltc after the first lock out. I am sorry, I do not know what caused the lockout of any of these people, I may have liked a few of them. I do know that there were some pretty pissed off people over at ltc and we asked them all to let it go. When they did we had some real good threads amoung ourselves, no arguing, no bickering, Just some good jokes and fun and interesting cigars facts and reviews.

Thanks for your patience while I rambled.

Very good points Jim but the problem many had was that the people who were doing the overmoderating at LTC were downright nasty (those would be Scotty, PuroBrat, Oblik and Zac) and abusive and the site owner (Zac) just banned people for no real good reason. While it was private, it barely had more than 40 members and right before it exploded, there were hardly any people on line or posting very much at all. Not much posting and a very closed circle doesn't make a very good or informative cigar site.

    Jim,

I got banned at the Island after only two posts - during the period of time you also were banned - remember, when Scotty came in with his zeal to clean things up (hence the Tombstone avatar) - where the site admin and mods decided who shall go and who shall stay, had discussions amongst themselves, discussing who was aligned with who - "weed out the bad people" - you know, when the Iron Curtain was dropped. Suspicions ran high - people were "spying" on them, they were reading other boards posts and sharing amongst themselves who was talking about them on other boards, and what was being said... Even so much as PB saying there needed to be a stronger gate guard because obviously others were making it in to the Island and reading their posts. What kind of lunacy is that!!!

Hence, appropriately so, the site was called the "Island of Misfit Toys" in the cigar board community. Some of the individuals were escaping pasts at other boards that caused them to be banned or persona non grata. And they found loving friends in commiserating about their problems at other boards. A support group, so to speak.

There are those individuals that will infect other boards, like this one, with their presence. Set themselves up as an upstanding member amongst the group. A "leopard", so to speak. But, a leopard does not change its spots.

SFG has got some serious issues - ones I honestly don't believe HE thinks he does. I sat on the fence, watched his posts at CP - saw his ramblings in the chat rooms - certainly, anger got the best of him. He'd issue apologies for his behavior (and he certainly needed to apologize for his behavior), and then repeated the cycle. Instead of stopping to take stock of what he was doing, Scotty just kept on going... Spiraling to the point where he got into it with one of the most generous, kindest, most laid back individuals I've met on the cigar boards - Rod, the Admin of CP. Scotty's arrogance got the best of him, and Scotty definitely crossed the line with Rod when he got defensive about the "CPFU Pass" on the Island... (I'll give you three guesses what CPFU stood for, and the first two don't count) - while Scotty was still and ACTIVE member of the CP board.

During this time, Scotty went over to the Island and infected that place with his egotistical ideals of creating a cigar utopia. By walking in like his avatar suggested (you know, Tombstone) - and screwed with people who didn't deserved to be screwed - because he had the power, and NO ONE had the right to disagree with his ideal. If you were associated with the "bad people" - you were banned. Even if you had casual conversation with the "bad people". Some of the best, most knowledgeable, respected and generous BOTL's I can think of were on the chopping block - just because they DARED to talk with the "bad people".

And the "bad people" Scotty went after were the likes of CC. While CC may be vocal in his opinions, he is a very good person. He is someone that you want on your side. Someone who is not afraid to tell you like it is. He has made mistakes in his past, and he will freely admit to it when he does. And he will apologize - AND SHOW GENUINE REMORSE (Remorse: Moral anguish arising from repentance for past misdeeds; bitter regret) - a concept Scotty obviously doesn't understand...

Okay, so CC has some unresolved issues with Scotty. I'm getting the distinct impressions that the people on this board don't understand the dynamic relationship between CC and SFG. Some of it is a personal agenda on CC's part to resolve what has not been resolved. Most of it arises from CC's disdain for what Scotty has done to other BOTL's at other boards. And Scotty just continues on like nothing ever happened...

So the question really is - Scotty - how long are you going to let this go on? Are you going to show remorse for past misdeeds? Or are you going to subject this and every other board you associate yourself with the same arrogance and insensitivity you displayed at CP and the Island...

The sad part of that whole episode (and a lesson to all who are on this board) - don't repeat the LTC fiasco over here. Let the "hotheads" (as you call it) vent their feelings and move on - maybe it will be resolved, maybe not. Okay, it's uncomfortable for a time, but it will pass. In the grand scheme of things this will all be a pimple on the ass of life!!! IMHO - If you are so highly offended by cigar board chatter (especially after only being a member for a few weeks with a couple dozen posts to your credit), what the hell is your personal life like!!!

Default This is the third, no, now fourt version of a post I was going to put here...........

But I'm not even going to bother.

It amazes me how people can be. Every time I join a board, it seems a short time down the road a selection of jack-asses (I'm not pointing fingers at anyone since I don't know the history behind this crap) develops a nice, hostile relationship and it sours the board.

Now, if I talk to person "B", person "A" will not like me and vice-versa. Heaven forbid I speak to person "C" or the whole board will want me strung alive!

I have a solution, I'll just put everybody on ignore.

I wish you guys would take this elsewhere. It's not fair to everybody else.

Also, do the moderators actually "moderate" here? Why doesn't somebody delete this whole damned thread?
