I agree that we should keep politics out of this board. It does nothing except promote a lot of bullshit, anger, and pissing matches.

But as for "if you don't like it, ignore it?", that's too simplistic. So if someone comes on here and repeatgedly posts a bunch of angry, hate filled stuff, do you think that everyone is going to ignore it forever? Of course not, if someone start pushing buttons they will eventually get a response, which is what they are looking for in the first place. Then tempers flare, pissing matches started, which eventually grow into deep-rooted hatreds.

So an occasional bullshit post, I can ignore, fine. But when they become a torrent, and I have to see discussions when I hit new posts that have inflammatory titles every time I hit "New Posts", this place starts to melt down. And I won't stand for that, nor will many of the others around here obviously. When we see someone doing nothing but stirring up hate, bile and controversy, of course eventually we are going to try to run the asshat off.

No doubt the BS needs to stop - it is divisive - and it will rip this place apart. But this current state of affairs is really not about disagreeing. If you think about it, it really is about ego and unreasonable expectations of one person's role in this community.

No doubt - this board is about talking cigars - but it is definitely not someone's personal kingdom. It truly isn't even Hex's kingdom. As much as it pains him, he gave the place over to the membership for their enjoyment.

This place does not need to be moderated by a few guys who make the decisions about what's appropriate or not - it's member moderated. That means the membership as a whole, as opposed to a few individuals. set the tone for what's acceptable and what's not acceptable within the community. Very democratic, you might say...

Boy - there's advantages and disadavantages to being member moderated. One of the BIG disadvantages we've just lived through. But the beauty of it? We're still here - and people are having cigar discussions. And I believe we're stronger because of it.

One of the advantages, though, is we're having open discussions in the community about how members should be acting. Is it painful? Hell yes, it's painful. People say and do things that can be pretty damaging to reputations through the process. That'll teach you, though! Betcha won't do that again (at least you would believe they wouldn't be so foolish as to do that again).

Wouldn't it have been easier for a moderator to make the decision to pull the pin at the first sign of trouble? Sid - Gone. CC - Gone. Shelby - Gone. Then what? You want to talk painful community wide? Start arbitrarily banning members. Kinda like Club Stogie and HCF. That'll do wonders for your reputation...

Bottom line - if you really can't get along well with others (aside from occasional dust-ups), are ego driven, want to gouge members, want to steal from the community, want to come in for the sole purpose of causing trouble (or any combination thereof) it's probably a good time to move on...

...or you WILL get your ass handed to you...

I disagree,if you fuck up then lets do battle out in the open ,fight until their is a winner not a truce. If you lose then sak up and be a man or fucking slither off never to be seen again. I've fucked up before but most of you don't know where and when. I saw the error of my ways and learned from it. George and Bill prolly know what I am speaking about.


I know some of you are young and idealistic ,that's cool. I am middle aged and cynical of most things that are accepted in todays society. I know some of you have safe secure jobs in a controlled indoor enviroment. I don't have that luxury,I work a job that everyday could cost me my life by not paying attention to what I am doing so I am kinda loud and proud in real life somewhat. I know some of you are Law Enfoercement Officers and you have my respect also. We just suffered ther loss of 2 Charlotte Oficers,murdered by a useless piece of shit that should have been sumirarly executed upon arrest

Some of us know each other in real life and have smoked it up on occasion .

What I am yammering on about is basically that these disputes are disruptive but are a part of life,here and real life
