    Default Stress?

How do you deal with stress? I’m not too good at it. My main attempts are to go for a hard 3 mile run and lifting weights. Though lately lifting has been on the back burner from the time aspect. I’ve don’t yoga before and that is awesome for stress relief. Also, I try to control my breathing helps a lot. Scuba diving has thought me to control my breathing and I try to bring that into daily life as much as possible, but I still can get worked up. “Venting” to the Misses also helps a lot. She is usually full of good ideas which are somehow missing to me. I guess having an outsider offer solutions to your problems offers an “Outside the Bun” perspective to life’s problems.

Venting is always good. You just have to find the right person to vent to. I also like to grab a cigar and sit outside somewhere where its quiet and just relax. Going out to the bar with friends is also good. Pretty much anything that distracts me from what I'm stresses about helps.

Wow talk about timing. Just today, I was sitting in my car waiting on one of my employees to show up so I could show him some things. I asked early this morning what time he was going to be there. I was told 11am, I ran a couple of errands and showed up where we were to meet at 10:55am. At 11:17am, I called him to find out where he was, no answer. I found myself screaming at the top of my lungs, inside my car. I hate to be late, and to have someone else be late.

As I drove home, I thought, I need a cigar and some beer. I however, didn't get either today, I had too many other things to do, and it was 92 degrees with 60% RH. I do feel better now though.

Venting is good. Find someone that listens and vent away. Plus, try to set an evening (at least once a week) with close friends to shoot the breeze. Either out in a bar, or just chilling at someone house smoking a good cigar, playing poker, or just talking.

Of course there's sports. Whatever you enjoy most, go out and do it, whether it's just for 15 minutes to 1 hour. If I'm strap for time, I can get a small bucket at the driving range and just whack away for 30 min or less.

For me, it's a fine cigar, something good to drink, a nice quiet place and an excellent book. That's the perfe ct stress relief for me.
There's only two kinds of cigars, the kind you like and the kind you don't.

I walk a few miles daily and every time the Yankee's lose another game it just relieves stress. Go figure :)

I absolutely love reading, but there's no way I can concentrate on a book when there are pressing issues on my mind. Although I will agree with you on the stogie + snifter, though.

If my mind is really racing with work stuff, a good book helps shift the gears down a couple of notches.......or is that the drink(s)?

I like the workout route. I normally go boxing and hit the heavy bags, that helps alot and then afterwords I have no energy to get worked up.

Jon, there are times that just being alone and saying "FUGGIT" to the world is the best medicine.

It's been really busy here (too busy) and thgen I taught at the College both of the past 2 weekends. Yesterday I had a day off work. I went to Detroit on the bike to take care of a few things and ended up visiting my favourite B&M and treated myself to a few NICE sticks. I came home, turned on the Espresso machine, grabbed the book I'm reading, a King "B", and went to the back yard to read, enjoy a few Espressos and a wonderful cigar:

You would not believe how good I felt after this.

Try it. I'm sure you'll like it.

Getting adequate sleep, drinking lots of water, and taking vitamins helps me a lot.

When I'm swamped with work at home, I try to squeeze in a few beers or a cigar or two.

I would suggest continuing to work out. It's pretty crazy how uninformed people are when it comes to bodybuilding. Most people work out for a solid 1.5 to 2 hours pressing 15 reps + on each exercise before they "feel" they have stressed their bodies to the limit. In actuality, the optimum amount of time you should be lifting for is one hour. And during that one hour, lift hard and fast. You want to put as much weight as possible so that you can't complete the tenth rep. Do about 6 sets of 8-10 reps per major muscle group, seperating your major muscles with 2-3 days rest. That allows you to work out each group once, or even better, twice a week. After a year you will see major improvements provided your diet is adjusted according to your goals. Want to lose wieght and add definition, three meals a day. Want to add wieght and muscle, 5-6 meals a day.

I was blown away recently learning that some top professional 300+ lb bodybuilders max their weekly work out to one hour at day four days a week! That's what I do! Of course they are genetically gifted and take juice, but can you imagine that? You can potentially be a pro bodybuilder and not quit your day job. And even without the juice, they would clock in at 240lbs or so. Monsters... I'm not no where near where I want to be ideally, but in about a year I'll be at the point where I will be working out to just maintain my weight and definition.

My main point was that if you keep your workouts relatively short and intense, they will add to your physique and act as a quality stress relief activity.
