    Question Gurka Black Puro

Smoked off and on for a few years starting with wicked cheap (strong) thompson brands my old german grandpa would want to smoke with me.

Anyways, got a five pack of Gurka Black Puro Torpedo's from CI, expecting to have a nice smoke for the night.

Wow, these things were incredibly horrible to draw. Had to dig through the kitchen for a veggie skewer to be able to smoke the thing. Not a bad taste but nothing remarkable. Really was so much work it wasn't enjoyable.

Has anyone had similar experiences with these cigars, or was this just an anomaly?

    Thanks

Probably my favorite Gurkha. Maybe they came "wet". Let em rest awhile.

Glad you liked it. Could have been a bad stick, but it's not uncommon for companies to sometimes ship cigars overly humidified. You can get decent deals on C-bid for the Black Pro's 12 sticks at a time.

I would get another 5 pack just to check for consistency. The first one's draw really sucked, but after taking pubs advice the rest were pretty damn good. I would try again.

BTW, having a 5 Vegas A right now and it is as good as everyone says. Try one if you get a chance.

That's definitely true. A 12 pack of torp's from CI run $90. I just won the same for $28.

And this is currently one of my favorite smokes.

I have had an off and on relationship with Gurkha. Some I love and some, not so much. The Nepalese Warrior is one of the best smokes Ive had. But, Ive had the Doble Maduro and hated it(it was so plugged it was completely unsmokable). Most the Gurkhas I have had have been fivers from Cbid so I'm not making my opinions from just one stick.
For example, as I write this I am enjoying the Gurkha Expidition and I'm burning my fingers on the nub I like it so much. I think overall it is an overhyped brand but you just have to narrow down which ones you like and don't like and stick with those.

Also I have a HUGE Ghengis Kahn in my box I've had for 8 months and waiting to try it, any one had one of these and can lend an opinion?
