some of you might know that there is a smoking ban city wide in columbus and soon to be (if not already in place) ban on the state. the thing that gets me is that this ban included any outdoor area within 25 ft. of a building so that the smoke can not go into a door or window. this really sucks on campus as we have alot of nice green area with benchs under trees and the like that me and friendscan't use because they are too close to the buildings.

From experience here in Mississippi, they are not really strict on the 25' thing. I see people everyday leaned against builings or sitting on a restraunt patio where ashtrays are available. I haven't heard of an incident where someone was fined for standing too close. So I wouldn't worry to much about that.

If they pass such a law in my area, I will definitely continue to smoke outside and ignore any "Foot: rule about proximity to public buildings. Enforce it, i say, and go ahead and try to make me pay a fine - I'll takea jail sentence first. Then I'll go right back to smoking outside again, fuck 'em all
