There are a number cedar species. I believe Spanish Cedar would be another common name for it. Just don't use any of the "aromatic" cedars like what are used in closets or cedar chests.
Like I said, your local tabacco shop might have some freebie boxes. You can just cut the top off and use them as trays.

    Common Name/s: CIGAR-BOX WOOD (Eng)
    RED CEDAR (Eng)
    SPANISH CEDAR (Eng)
    ACAJOU ROUGE (Fre)
    ACAJOU-BOIS (Fre)
    CEDRAT (Fre)
    CEDRO ROJO (Spa)
