I've never heard of anyone getting them back togethor without sending them back to Xikar. Congrats, a tutorial with pics would be a great addition.

I don't have to clean mine. They break before they get dirty. Nice pic though
Family, Friends and a good cigar. Oh and some fishing too!
Uh what exactly breaks on these, they look so simple?
I could see the spring breaking, or that little spring guide extruded piece that triggers it.
Or dropping it.

Most "breakage" is the pivot screw working loose, you need to tighten it every so often. But I have heard that dropping them can cause them to fail. Mine have worked flawlessly.
... If it comes apart, just drop it in a padded envelope and mail it back, they'll send you a brand new one![]()

Wow you cleaned it yourself? I just send mine back to Xikar for FREE cleaning and sharpening due to their life time warranty (all you have to do is wirte them a letter and a return address stating the cause for the return). Breakage? never has happened to me, if so you can get a free replacement. (I have two Xikar so for when one might be in the shop for cleaning and resharpening).

I'm debating on getting one of these, how do you guys like yours? Do you think it is worth the dough.
To tell the truth, my wife had recieved a "cash back" rewards card from her credit card and wanted to share 1/2 of it. I used it for this like it was some sort of bonus purchase.
Was it worth it? In this instance yes. I have it now, it cuts great and looks sharp. Would I get one ontherwise? My cheapo free-bee was cutting them fine up to that point

I had one. They look cool and many like them. I wasn't always pleased with the cut I got, usually getting a crooked cut was the problem, but maybe I just lack skill. I bought a Palio and I prefer it to Xikar. My Xikar did break on me after a month, maybe just a fluke. I do recommend trying a V cut. It allows more of the cigar to be in your mouth. However, it's a good idea to have a full cutter for torpedo sizes and cigars with a tight draw...
