no yeast rinse?
no yeast rinse?
Nope, I'm on facebook though. Myspace, Haven't been back in a long, long time.
I'll be doing the same thing, this week I'll toss my Obsidian Stout Clone onto the secondary yeast cake of my Irish Red Rye. It's a great way to stretch your yeast dollar.
Now I get to figure what to brew with the hops I just won at the local Oktoberfest. 4 oz. of Centenial pellets and 1 gallon ziplock of Amarillo whole hops. Yum

Sweet score
Here's my Phantom Planet Porter. 2 weeks in the bottle and it's already delicious. I sent it off to a competition yesterday so I can get some feedback.
I made a British Mild at the beginning of the week. That's a cheap beer to make. Cost me under $20. It's a low alcohol beer (3-4% ABV) so the grain bill was only 8lbs for a 6 gallon batch. I've never had a mild (can't find one) but have been reading about them and I can't wait to try it.
That looks really tasty Chris. good luck with the competition.
milds are good. I have an amber wheat mild on draft. Easy drinking.
Looks great! I've got a Bock, Vanilla Porter, and an Irish Red Rye for tapping at the Teach A Friend To Homebrew Day event tomorrow. Oh, and I'll be brewing 16.5 gallons of the Irish Red Rye also.

I brewed a Robust Porter and decided to enter it into my first competition. Can't believe it ... I got second place. Wasn't really expecting to place, just wanted to get some feedback. Had to wait 2 long days to get the results back. Felt like forever. So I got a ribbon on the way with some critique sheets.
Man, this is a great feeling.

hop pellets and a strong brew. Nice.
I'm moving to the 6 gallon carboys and 7 gallon buckets. I like my beer strong but I need the 5 gallon volume.
That's my first 10 gallon batch. I did my Phantom Planet Porter (Robust Porter) again. If you'll remember that's the award winning brew. I even got to show a guy off my homebrew board the ropes of all grain brewing.
Looks like it's time to employ a blow-off tube.
Congratulations.
