    Default Free Beer (PIF)

Ok, so I stole (by stole I mean *almost* copy pasted) this idea from our cigar PIF and another forum. I am by all means open to suggestions or changes to this exchange.

    Rules

-Send a total of at least 36 oz or 750ml of good beer (homebrews are MORE than welcome).
    -Send one premium cigar ($8+).
-Must be 21 to participate. Don't lie about your age, there is no need for that.
-The previous winner will post the words FREE BEER on this thread and pay it forward with some free beer and a smoke to enjoy to the first person who answers the post. This post will be AFTER the person has received the beer and cigar from the previous player. It is important that everyone keep up with their commitments in this thread so that no one is left hanging.
-If you have won/given, please dont try to win again for at least 7 days. This gives everyone a chance to win/give.
-Anyone participating in this contest must have posted at least 100 times and be active and in good standing. Also - if you're not known (i.e. you don't have a trading history) someone will have to vouch for your character.

    After you get your package

-Ask who wants it next as soon as possible to keep this moving.
-Post what you got, pics make it even better.
-First person to reply in the thread gets the PIF.
-After posting your interest to receive the PIF, list a couple of style you like, or even specific examples so the person sending to you has an idea what to send.

I'll send the first package out in a styrofoam cooler (I have an old omaha steak cooler that ships well) that we can use until it's worn out.

    So... Free Beer?

Definitely a cool idea, but wouldn't the shipping costs of sending a 6 pack come close to equaling the price of the beer inside? Also, the single cigar would have to be wrapped up pretty well to not get smashed by the bottles.

Sounds like a cool idea. I agree that the shipping and packaging is going to be tough though. I think its doable, its just gonna take commitment.

I can understand the cost factor. It would cost aprox. $13.50 for me to ship a 6 pack to BenjiM via UPS ground. Now while that rivals the cost of a decent 6 pack of beer, the benefit is being able to obtain craft beers not available to your local area. In the end its comparable to paying bar price for a import beer.

As far as the cigar(s) go. It shouldn't be too hard to add a small piece of tupperware to the packaging to protect the sticks from the bottles.

If more people would be interested with a reduced ammount of beer. that can be done as well.

    This is a good idea.

This is actually a GREAT idea.

BUT......I probably won't be playing. It's not that I don't like good beer, but there are no beers available to me locally that everyone else wouldn't be able to buy in their own grocery stores. There are no microbreweries in my town, there are no special beers local to my area (I suppose Abita counts, but that's available throughout the south, like Lone Star Beer), and I am not setup for brewing my own beer - yet.

But great idea. I will be watching this thread.

But you just named two brands that aren't readily available in my area. I would love to try some Abita seasonals and while Lone Star is a PBR product I have never seen it (and I'm a fan of all things PBR). Louisana is also home to Heiner Brau, so I'm not gonna let you off that easy.
