Definitely a cool idea, but wouldn't the shipping costs of sending a 6 pack come close to equaling the price of the beer inside? Also, the single cigar would have to be wrapped up pretty well to not get smashed by the bottles.

Sounds like a cool idea. I agree that the shipping and packaging is going to be tough though. I think its doable, its just gonna take commitment.
I can understand the cost factor. It would cost aprox. $13.50 for me to ship a 6 pack to BenjiM via UPS ground. Now while that rivals the cost of a decent 6 pack of beer, the benefit is being able to obtain craft beers not available to your local area. In the end its comparable to paying bar price for a import beer.
As far as the cigar(s) go. It shouldn't be too hard to add a small piece of tupperware to the packaging to protect the sticks from the bottles.
If more people would be interested with a reduced ammount of beer. that can be done as well.

This is a good idea.
This is actually a GREAT idea.
BUT......I probably won't be playing. It's not that I don't like good beer, but there are no beers available to me locally that everyone else wouldn't be able to buy in their own grocery stores. There are no microbreweries in my town, there are no special beers local to my area (I suppose Abita counts, but that's available throughout the south, like Lone Star Beer), and I am not setup for brewing my own beer - yet.
But great idea. I will be watching this thread.
But you just named two brands that aren't readily available in my area. I would love to try some Abita seasonals and while Lone Star is a PBR product I have never seen it (and I'm a fan of all things PBR). Louisana is also home to Heiner Brau, so I'm not gonna let you off that easy.

Flat rate USPS box cost around $8 or 9$(I think) up to 40 pounds. This type of PIF is not for those with tight budget.
I would also put in some of the rules for the free cigar PIF here. Like the ones that say you have to be a member in good standing and have been here for a few months. Active during that time. Things like that.
Good Luck guys.

I think you'd be hard pressed to find anyone that would consider Lone Star Beer as a good beer (at least on the microbrew scale). We are in the midst of Mardi Gras, and Abita has a seasonal ale out now, so I suppose I have something to offer.
I'll play, and be the first up. PM sent!
Sounds fun. I'll be looking to jump on this after the Vegas trip next week!
