Massachusetts cigar excise tax

The most honorable Governor Deval Patrick has proposed
Raising the cigar tax from the current 30% to a whopping 110%.
I have come to the following conclusions.

1) The Commonwealth of Massachusetts is a gaping shit hole.
2) The Honorable Deval Patrick does not smoke cigars, but does give it in the ass.

I agree, and it sucks because I am all about supporting the local economy. Hell, I buy most of my cigars at my local B&Ms knowing that I could save a few bucks online. But when I go to a store and I need to pay 16-18 bucks for a $7 stick.......I would seldomly visit my B&M.

It is indeed a shitty time for the local tobacconists because the fact is, EVERYONE is hurting right now and this just adds fuel to the fire. Again, would I support my local B&M, of course, but probably not as often as I do now and even then, I would probably be buying yard gars instead of premium quality sticks.

Walking into a B&M is part of a "ritual" for me personally. Like you all stated above, the smell, the variety, the conversations....hell, I have met some pretty cool folks while smoking a stick at a B&M! Its sad to see this happen. This whole deal just bums be out.

I buy about 85% of my cigars online now. But nothing beats walking into a B&M and smelling the cigars , looking at them & maybe sitting down and having a smoke. I enjoy having a cigar at the local cigar lounge/ B&M.

As do I. My cigar budget is arranged at 75% online, 25% local.....the guy/gal looking at me across the counter and discussing the merits of different wrappers/fillers etc.....makes it worth it to me even though I get less cigars for the $$.
