Best Way to Cut Torpedo Cigars?

I just recieved a couple of Indian Tabac Torpedo cigars in a trade with Jaewing. I have never smoked a Torpedo style cigar. How far up the cigar do you need to cut to get a draw?

For the indian's I usually use my punch bcause the end is rounded and slightly larger than the punch blade.

For other torpedo's where the end comes to a true point I use a blade cutter and take off about as much as need to create a whole about the size a punch would make.

I typically cut 1/4 to 1/2 inch off any torpedo. As long as you do not go past the point where the taper ends and the body of the cigar begins you will be fine. Regular cutters work fine for this. Try with a little and work your way up until you get a good opening.

With Monte #2's I generally cut halfway down the taper, I like torpedos and pyramids because you can cut them to match your own preferred draw.

I normally use a V cutter to cut at the tip, and that normally works out fine.

Try the "Dickman" method: using a double blade cutter, snip the tip at an angle. You will expose a larger surface area to draw from, with less loss of the tip. Works grat!

I also like to cut a little off at first, and then cut for a second time when the tar begins to build-up or I'm about half way through the cigar.....I highly recommend multiple cuts. In my experience it has always helped.

I smoked one last night, It was a great cigar, but, towards the end it was less enjoyable. On the next one, I will try to cut it multiple times. Thanks KingPin!
