I agree, the first offer you got was probably the best. Did he give you contact information? On the other hand, if you like cigars and plan on continuing to smoke them, why not save it for a special treat? Opportunities like this don't come along often in life. Since it does not have the box, it's authenticity will probably never be believed outside the event you won it at. Do you have the cigars measurements? Find a nice little cedar cigar coffin from another cigar the same size. Tuck it away nice and safe until there's a special occasion, and you feel you can truly appreciate it. Perhaps your graduation, or wedding, or the birth of your first child. Make it part of an informal ceremony of some sort. Relish the decadence!

By now the cigar is as bland as a macanudo, maybe even more so. Take that first offer. It would be cool to celebrate with at some point in life, but since there won't be any flavor, it'll just be to say I did it. Don't get me wrong that has sentimental value, but you'd be better off selling it to that first guy and then re-investing the money (and I don't mean in a stupid way like pimping out your japanese import).

if these cigars are from edgar's collection, you can be sure that they are what he says...that theyve been well taken care of,and that they're very smokeable....and worth quite a bit of money.
i'll try to reach an expert today (mcgoospot) or perhaps the master can chime in.....

    you lucked out!!!...

I will start the bidding at $100 . . . ooops wrong thread

I have to admit my initial thought about this guys post was that he was some troll trying to sell a fake cigar. I would also probably sell the smokes too unless you plan on keeping it and never smoking it. I have heard, and it is repeated above, that cigars that old have lost all their essential oils and such even when kept in optimum conditions.

    Cool win though.
