Also, between the months of May and end of October, most of the resorts (any of the few open that time of year) are running on a minimum staff. You don't get the quality of service you'd normaly get, and while the food in Cuba is mediocre at best, it's less that time of year. Last year we were in Santa Lucia at the beginning of November, 2nd week the resort was open, and we could see a definate difference between the population (both staff and guests) and the quality and amount of food from early in the week to when we left.
Cigar shops at the resorts were severely lacking too.
Basically, the first statement is hearsay from others. 2nd paragraph and the cigar statement is my own personal experiences. I haven't checked cost that time of year, but I wouldn't say much different when compared to November.
Just curious, why would you want to go there when it's hot here?
