Come on...Cleveland's not that bad. Gary is the murder capital of the world, isn't it? Nice job marrying the two together like that. I believe you're thinking of Buffalo or Toledo.
Cleveland sucks, but only between January-March when we get the lake effect snow and it's gray every day. It's awesome from April through the holidays. That's why I moved back to the area. I grew up south of downtown...not up on the lake near Eddy Rd or Bratenhal. My Dad is a retired CPD, but we didn't have to live in the actual city limits like the current officers do. He was grandfathered in when they made that rule.
Obviously, the sports teams are only average...it would be nice to see something happen to one of the home teams besides a fumble, a drive (both Elway), a shot (Michael Jordan), a booted grounder in the bottom of the ninth of game seven of the World Series, etc... Hey man, Cleveland had glory days, but they were long before I was born.
Hyde Park is very nice...but I believe it's a chain like Morton's. There's a place called John Q's steakhouse right downtown on public square...personally, I think it's a better overall experience for a steak.
I work for the ESPN radio affiliate here in Cleveland now and Ruth's Chris steakhouse is doing a promo through the station on weekend's called "steak and stogies". For $40, you get the steak dinner and your choice of cigar out of about a selection of ten. I told my boss that the term "stogies" is inappropriate because a stogie is a cheap, machine rolled turd. His response was "don't worry about it"... IN FACT, that's where I was this afternoon...it's right by Corky and Lenny's.
