I haven't seen it in my neck of the woods. How does it compare to the Buffalo?

I find myself going to the Buffalo Trace more often, between the two. I enjoy the initial bite, followed by the smoothness. It transitions very quickly.
I finished the Woodford a few evenings ago and finished with a Buffalo Trace and I have to agree on the preference.

Sam Houston is made with quite a bit more rye, so it should have a little "spice" on the finish. I'm not an expert, but it seems like a nice counter-balance to a full flavored, earthy cigar. I don't know where to begin with a comparison or description.

Picked up a bottle of 1792 last night and was very happy with it. Better than Woodford in my opinion.

Has anyone ever had a barrel proof bourbon?

I ask because I'll be home this summer and want to buy something to have it waiting for me.

Noticed this thread. So hopefully it's cooling down which for me means a migration to my whiskies. I dunno about y'all but I have some ideas how I'll pass winter ...

Havin' some Booker's tonight with a splash of water.

Let's see what my newbie burbon palate discovers:

Smells like...whiskey with a nuance of honey.

Nice oakey flavors, with a little burny bite in the mouth. Not nearly as overpowering when sipped straight. Sweet an pretty smooth, and a even alcohol warmess.

I don't know what the hell I'm saying.

    Tastes good.

Picked up my first ever bottle of Booker's today. I'll be enjoying it at a poker party tonight, but it will be my first experience with top shelf bourbon.

WOW, front and center Rittenhouse Rye 100 proof.

I'm not a huge bourbon fan, I prefer Rye instead and was literally just in the process of getting ready to call a few local liquor stores to see if they can get me a bottle of that.

I have a few of these (Willet), wonder which iteration you picked up - do you have any age statement info, DSP# &/or know if it was bottled for a specific merchant/group?

Pricewise to taste, Rittenhouse Rye 100 BIB is tough to beat. Especially if you're looking for something to mix it up.

    Anyone had Glen Breton before?

I might have asked this a year ago and forgot so forgive me.
