Wink My wife and I have a slight problem.

Our personalities clash with a catch 22. The particular incident I'm talking about here involves cooking a turkey.

I'm easygoing and accept a number of different ways to do things, but at the same time, I refuse to be micromanaged if I'm the one doing something.

My opinion is, you have two choices, you can have a job done exactly the way you like it every step of the way, OR you can have me do it, not both.

My wife likes to have things done exactly her way, but doesn't necessarily know how to, or want to do everything herself.

Here's the catch. We're having Xmas dinner at our house for the first time and I offerred to cook the bird. I've used a couple different methods to cook the bird (oven, not frying) in the past that have had both pro's and con's.

Cooking it upside down, in a bag, with herbs, butter, and a bit of apple juice, wine, or apple scnapps works the best for the meat taste IMHO, but renders the bird too ugly for display.

My wife is having a coronary because she want's the bird just like Gramma makes it traditionally in her old deep sided enamel roaster, uncovered and stuffed. As every cooking show now tells you, this isn't the best way to cook a bird. It dries out the breast meat.

Well, I'll happily judge the two methods of cooking if you send me samples of turkey cooked in each method.

When ever i run into similar problems with the g/f, i tell her that the sofa's her new bed and that she's not getting any- just kidding.

Hey maybe you should just get the turkey already prepared for you at a supermarket or boston market if you have one around your area. That would save you from cooking it your way or her way, less yacking and more time to watch football.

if you're cooking it,cook it your way...if she's cooking it,it'll be her way......if she demands that you cook it her way,you got problems...but in the grand scheme of things,it's hardly worth a spat..

Jon, you crack me up dude!

Kenyth, my wife and I came to an agreement a long time ago. If I'm cooking, it's done my way (which she usually likes BTW) and she stays out of the cooking room. If she's cooking, I intentionally stay out of that area of the house. She's so unorganized in the kitchen it's actually dysfunctional. Pisses me off to no end.

BTW, she's looking over my shoulder as I type this, and she does agree.

Two small turkeys, one your way (to eat) and one hers (to look at)? Even if you have a bunch of leftovers you can freeze it up.

When I was married, I wasn't allowed in the kitchen so I never cooked. The kitchen was HER domain and HER "workshop" she knew where all her utensils, pots and pans were and doesn't like people fucking around with her shit.

That was one thing that worked well when we were married.

Bill, my wife cleans out & rearranges the kitchen so often, even she forgets where she puts shit!!! That really cracks me up when she's looking for something.
