I went through the first few pages here, and didn't find any Oliva reviews...
Curious as to why not? I'm interested in trying out the line, just not sure yet.

That's a quote from an extremely, intelligent and insightful member here.I'm not big on doing reviews, tobacco doesn't taste like "cocoa" or "nutty" or "mocha" to me, it tastes like freakin' TOBACCO. I know what I like and I really don't care what other people think of other cigars. I've never read a review and said to myself "Wow, that sounds like a cigar I'd like to try!"
There are MANY different Olivas. Which ones in particular are you interested in? I used to really like the "O" Bolds but I think they've been discontinued.
I pretty much only smoke high end cigars these days so I haven't smoked any of the newer Olivas, sorry....

Yep, good point. I guess I've just tried so many over the years, I know what I like and what I don't like and I can smell a BS "review" from a mile away so I've become a little cynical.
I think general comments on a certain brand are more useful than a specific review of a certain cigar.
For instance, 99 times out of 100 all cigars of a certain line like say Carlos Torano Exodus 1959 all taste and smoke the same and you should pick a vitola based on your preference for size. However, I've seen reviews from asshats that will say that the Toros suck and the Torpedo are far superior.![]()

I have seen in my limited time some cigars that smoke differently the different vitola, not really a different taste but more of something like "it's a longer cigar and so makes the complexity of the smoke easier to point out" or " it's a smaller ring gauge cigar and tends to burn a little hotter" that kind of thing. I agree with you that you need to pick a vitola that you like and grab that sucker and smoke it.![]()

There are a couple of others, use the search in the review forum.
The second link is not a detailed review, but the SerieG is said to be a good smoke. The
Flor de Oliva's are mentioned here frequently as a good value smoke, and I smoke the maduro's fairly regularly. The only Oliva that I really don't enjoy is the Fdo Gold....simply too mild for me.
I agree with cc - the O series are good cigars. They've replaced the old maduro blue labels, I think. The G line is good too. The S line sounds good - sungrown wrapper - it's been out for a while now, but I haven't found it in any B&M's yet. And, the master blends are great. Had a III the other day that was an excellent cigar. all in all, you can't go wrong grabbing any Oliva, IMO.

Just out of curiosity, where do the ones with the cloth bands fit into their line?? I seem to remember a post or 2 about these sometime last year, but can't seem to find it now.
I seem to remember they aren't made any more?

The S line is good. I've had O and G and didn't like them to well but the S had a coco taste. First time I have ever taste much of anything except the LGC serieR
Wait a minute. Are discussing cigars here?
Yes, back to discussing cigars, which is what we used to do before.....ah, it's not worth it...
I love the Oliva Master Blends. The 2 was better thant the 3, but the 3 is all that is available now unless you're lucky and find a stash. It's a cool, creamy smoke and I love the taste profile.
The S series is a fantastic cigar as well, it shifts in taste several times for me, I would recommend trying it.
The O series, it's a good value smoke, but nothing special. I don't like the G series, it has a dry taste to it that turns me off.
How's that for feedback?![]()
There's only two kinds of cigars, the kind you like and the kind you don't.
I've only had the MB2
I need to try some others.

That's a great belief system you have there Newfie![]()
I'm going to Dallas this weekend. There's a B&M there where I've seen the blue bands as recently as last Thanksgiving. I'm gonna see if they're still there - they weren't quick movers, but I liked 'em. Interestingly, the maddies came with both satin and paper bands. Why the difference and when it occurred, I don't know. The satins came out first I think.

I have an Olive Serie G, I believe, that I'll be smoking sometime this week... I've had Olivas before, but not memorable ones.
It's worth another try.
