I think general comments on a certain brand are more useful than a specific review of a certain cigar.

For instance, 99 times out of 100 all cigars of a certain line like say Carlos Torano Exodus 1959 all taste and smoke the same and you should pick a vitola based on your preference for size. However, I've seen reviews from asshats that will say that the Toros suck and the Torpedo are far superior.
I have seen in my limited time some cigars that smoke differently the different vitola, not really a different taste but more of something like "it's a longer cigar and so makes the complexity of the smoke easier to point out" or " it's a smaller ring gauge cigar and tends to burn a little hotter" that kind of thing. I agree with you that you need to pick a vitola that you like and grab that sucker and smoke it.
