I like the matches because it doesn't overheat the cigar, I can control the flame better...you can almost put the match flame at the end of the cigar and a halo will appear as the cigar is lighting...try it out sometime. Takes me two matches, the first to put an ash around the circumference of the cigar, the second the light it completely.
I guess it's like eating oreos.
if you have a Zippo, buy the Zippo insert, the Z-Plus. Its very inexpensive, but well made and it holds enough fuel to last you a while. I got mine at my B&M for $12.
The very existence of flame-throwers proves that some time, somewhere, someone said to themselves, "You know, I want to set those people over there on fire, but I'm just not close enough to get the job done." -unknown

I had issues with mine 'till I bled it right.
Use something like a golf tee and purge it through the filling port. Takes about 3-5 minutes to do it properly. You can hold it down 'till the hiss stops, and then you have to pump it for a while longer until nothing else comes out. Make sure you do it in a quiet place so you can hear the hiss.

I use the cheap colibri firebird (I think Walmart even carries them). As long as you use good fuel and purge it every time you fill it up, it works great. Mine's still going strong.
I'm definitely interested in the Zippo insert so i can start using my zippo again.
Single flame is all you need. Anything more and you are just wasting fuel.
spiffy
Just wanted to ask. How many sticks can you light with your lighter in between filling it up. I got a 3 flame torch and it seems as thought I知 filling the damn thing up after every third stick.
I think I知 going to have to agree with Spiffy on this one. Anything other than 1 flame is just a waste of fuel.![]()
I had a single flame which i thought was plenty good enough, then I lost it in a knocking shop (it's a long story but has a happy ending) and bought the first gas lighter I could find the next day.
Turns out it was a dual flame and despite the tacky red LED light and clear window (which has actually turned out to be quite useful) it works great in the sometimes (usually) windy weather we have here. It's also great for lighting up (and re-lighting) a cigar while out on the bike. it lights faster so you can keep an eye on the road a bit more. 'Spose I could stop and do it too. I get a few odd looks (and a few smiles) out cycling 'round the bays with a Siglo 1 sticking out of my mouth
.
You're right, it does chew through the gas a bit, though the previously mentioned tacky clear window makes it easy to see when it's time to re-fill before you run out.
