A very popular local radio personality was interviewing a gubernatorial candidate recently (KF). Both smoke cigars. KF will soon have his own label in some humidors (supposedly rolled by the Oliveros Bros). Anyway, KF stated "on the air" that he was certain that cigar smoking is good for you. That the stress relieving benefits of smoking a cigar (no inhaling) outweigh the risks of cancer, heart disease, etc.

I really don't believe KF but I will say that after a stressful day at the office I sure do look forward to selecting a stog and kicking back for an hour to unwind. Works for me.

Wow, makes me even happier than ever that I voted for him in 2006 for governor.

Personally i always ask when Im with people if they mind. and when im in public, outside is fair game if you ask me.

Although once i was at a small cafe and one of my best friends is a SERIOUS asthmatic, and there was a guy puffing away at some huge cigar (like he was fiend), and he continuously blew the smoke in my friends direction. so finally i went over (because my friend is far to polite) and asked the gentlemen to please just blow the smoke in a different direction, and i told him why, and i would like to just say the guy was real cool about it and put it out, when all i asked was to blow the smoke in a different direction).

Especially here in the US i get alot of crap from cigar stores, they constantly ask me for an ID, which i gladly give them, and than i get remarks about how young i am, and than once the guy called out my age to everyone who is sitting enjoying their cigars, to make fun, and i laughed with them and than politely told them all to (four lettered word beginning with f ending with uck) off, and told the guy i would no longer shop there (and none of my friends do either now), i am not a big fan of snobbery.

Casa Fuente in Vegas is the best for this. Best cocktails, best waitresses, shitty cigar prices - can't win em all. My choice is to sit, back against the wall farthest from the escalator and light up. The "oh my God, you farted on the elevator" look on the faces of the tree huggers on the escalator is priceless! It just don't get any better than that.

Funny story to share. When I was still a noob, and relatively new to my cigar store, during a big event I walked into the humidor. I was carrying a cigar and a drink. Within five seconds of me going in there, both owners come in with a strange look on their face. They tell me almost in unison - "No drinks in the humidor" in a nice way but firmly stated.

So with a deadpan look on my face, I hand them my drink, and tell them "OK, as soon as i finish farting in here, I'll come back out". The look on their faces was priceless!!!

Ever since then, every once in a while, one of the gang will watch me as I enter the humidor, and ask me if I'm going in to fart up the joint. To which, I shoot them an evil grin and mischevious look as I enter and let them wonder.....

What gets me is this. In a BAR, a BAR I say, smoking a cigar and somebody comments .........................while smoking a cigarette. There are ashtrays and cigarette smokers everywhere, but that cigar is bad? Try again jacknut. One thing if it's standing room only, but in a semi crowded bar they just have to live with it. It's fine if someone politely tells me they can't stand cigar smoke. If they ain't nice, I ain't nice.

I went to one of the last pubs in town that has a smoking section the other night. I specifically called the night before to inquire about cigar smoking and was told without hesitation that cigars are allowed.

I order a drink and proceed to prep and light my Upmann Mag 50. When the bitch of waitress comes back she tries to tell me that big cigars are not allowed in the bar. I give her an earful and she leaves but says I have to put it out if anyone complains. Well, there goes her tip.

The look on her face was priceless when my 3 other smoking friends walked in and lit up as well a few minutes later.

Needless to say when I am 6'3", 280, nobody tends to complain...

There's still a Hooters in my area that has a no-holds-barred smoking area. We go in there to smoke cigars, eat wings, bullshit, drink beer by the pitcher, flirt with the waitresses and watch UFC fights. We got lots of dirty looks from the cigarette smokers but no one says anything to us. You'd think the idiots would realize that we are in the same boat, but no, they treat us as badly as non-smokers treat all smokers.
