A good amber, like Sam Adams Boston Lager or Elliot Ness from Great Lakes Brewery.

I haven't had much good experiences drinking beer and enjoying a good cigar - at least not if I want to enjoy the taste of each separately. But I'm interested in trying out a few of the combinations suggested in this thread.

I enjoy either a scotch or a port. I'm a big fan of the Jonesey Port as well, but I've also enjoyed Irish Cream, such as O'Maras. I really enjoy the milky-sweet taste with the spiciness of cigars I normally enjoy.

Rum and coke...or Gin and Tonic are my favorites. Although I did really enjoy a Heineken with a Gurkha Beast recently! Very good combination to me!

Something worth checking out are the single village Mezcals from Del Maguey. Unlike tequila where the agave is roasted in autoclaves the Del Maguey Mezcals are from agave pinas roasted in pits over heated stones and plant fibers so they take on a smokiness reminiscent of a good Islay malt. In the summer a full-bodied smoke, a camp fire and a glass of Del Maguey Chichicapa or Minero is pure heaven.

Otherwise it's the usual Scotch, Bourbon, Espresso or Coca-Cola.
Were there monkeys? Some terrifying space monkeys maybe got loose?

I haven't tried the Del Maguey Tequilas but have enjoyed other aged Tequila's. On the rocks it can be as good or better than a premium whiskey. You don't have to shoot Tequila to enjoy it. Just sip it.

I really shouldn't be drinking tequila, in any shape or form. I won't even touch margaritas.

It's the salt, lime and sugar that eat away at your stomach and cause ulcers. The Tequila, well it just makes you happy.

Maybe in the case of the margaritas; but I would only shoot straight - no chaser, no lime, no salt, no nothing. Maybe a drink of water.

I've had a few, um, officers of the law recommend that I no longer partake of this agave-based spirit.

But I digress. Perhaps if I would stop drinking the tequila that you could also use as gasoline, I wouldn't have had such a bad experience. I've grown a bit since - maybe I should give it another try.

I love a drink + cigar. If I'm driving later, I'll have an iced coffee (thanks to Ausfailia's provisional driving laws I have to be absolutely 0.00%), if not, I'll have a rum and coke please barman. Make it a cold one.
