I'd love to still get together with anyone I can. It'd be great to meet y'all.

I'm in Houston so Hex and Lopaka I'm down for meeting up with y'all somewhere after Hex is done schmoozing all his free stuff from the RTDA show.

Hell if anyone is in Houston and wants to meet up and have a smoke let me know. I met cigar no baka a few weeks ago in Sugarland so he can tell you I'm not a bad guy

Yep you're a good buy in my book.

As for when, first week of August is fine with me as long as it's on a weekend.

August is quickly approaching. I'm not very familiar with the Houston area, so do any of you local BOTL recommend a good place for a HERF? I'll be in downtown Houston August 3 - 7th (probably with out a car). I was thinking the night of August 4th (Saturday) or August 5th (Sunday) would be best.

    Let’s get some plans together.

Since I'm really new to the cigar scene, I don't know of many places downtown. But I'm sure you'll get info on that at the RTDA show.

I do know that Houston is one of those places where if you want to do much of anything, you NEED a car, or need to know someone who has a car.

I'm down for meeting up someplace, but again, don't really know where yet, especially downtown since I live in Clear Lake, about a half hour drive South. Maybe some of the other Houston guys can help with locations.

Not too many places left in Houston are cigar friendly. One that I know of is the Stags Head pub, it is not all that far from downtown, at 2128 Portsmouth 77098 if you want to google it.

Another one (I haven't been there in over a year, so don't know if they still allow smoking) is Brian O'Neills, a bit closer to downtown, 5555 Morningside 77005

    Hey hex,

If we do end up finding a place to meet up, I can probably pick you up downtown if you need it, as long as you don't mind riding in an old POS Saturn.

Lets do a quick roll call on who's going to be able to make it. Cigar Jack mentioned several other people from some of the other boards / blogs are going to be in Houston as well.

Lets try to shoot for Saturday (August 4th) evening, if everyone's cool with that.

I'm in the process of getting things finalized with the other organizers. It looks like we are shooting for Saturday, late afternoon. And we are still trying to iron out the venue. I'll post back when everything is set in stone.

FYI, the times been changed to 8:00 PM. Sorry of the confusion. But apparently the time we picked conflicts with the RTDA kick off event.

So it sounds like a bunch of people from a bunch of different boards are coming here. Is this some kind of RTDA after party?

I didn't know that Slainte was a cigar friendly bar, that's awesome! Are y'all taking over the balcony or what?

According to the locals it's cigar friendly. I guess someone should probably give them a call just in case..

Please PM me your phone number's if you are going just in case anything changes and I need to get a hold of you guys. I've already sent spiffykyle and cigar no baka my cell #.

The RTDA trade show floor does not actually open until Sunday. They have a dinner/drinks event to open the show from like 6 - 8 or so Saturday night. I'll probably try to be at the Slainte by ~7:45.

I just called and they don't open until 4PM, will call them back at 4 and let everyone know what they say. I'm going to ask to speak to the manager, since answers in the past from staff have been wrong concerning cigar-friendly or not.

And just in case, I'm going to bring information on how to get to the Stags Head pub in case things go south at Slaintes.
