It's not good to laugh that hard in the morning.
Fortunately Chris didn't bring a straw or those ridiculous shorts. He did bring some good beer and "forgot" to take it home with him. Not only did he leave me with some of his home brews, but left a few good micros to keep them company. Thanks for the brew man. I can't wait to pop the top on the Double Choc. Stout.
I pitched on top of a yeast cake for the first time last night. That pretty much just means I re-used the yeast from a previous batch. I emptied the Robust Porter from my Primary then poured what I just finished brewing on top of the sediment on the bottom.
Very active fermentation.

This is my first recipe. It's a Coffee Stout with Chicory. Thinking about calling it Coffeeweed which is another name for chicory, plus it's got coffee in it so it's a 2fer. I'll post up the recipe if it turns out.![]()
no yeast rinse?
Nope, I'm on facebook though. Myspace, Haven't been back in a long, long time.
I'll be doing the same thing, this week I'll toss my Obsidian Stout Clone onto the secondary yeast cake of my Irish Red Rye. It's a great way to stretch your yeast dollar.
Now I get to figure what to brew with the hops I just won at the local Oktoberfest. 4 oz. of Centenial pellets and 1 gallon ziplock of Amarillo whole hops. Yum
Wild
On Tap -
- Red IPA
- Extreme Red
Secondary - Mesquite Bourbon Mead

Sweet score
Here's my Phantom Planet Porter. 2 weeks in the bottle and it's already delicious. I sent it off to a competition yesterday so I can get some feedback.
I made a British Mild at the beginning of the week. That's a cheap beer to make. Cost me under $20. It's a low alcohol beer (3-4% ABV) so the grain bill was only 8lbs for a 6 gallon batch. I've never had a mild (can't find one) but have been reading about them and I can't wait to try it.
