The people's voice was heard, Bush won the election and nothing "came under order" of anyone, Bush received more votes in Florida than Gore did. plain and simple, case closed, Gore lost

Actually, Bush lost his home state too.....twice. Bush is actually a Connecticut expatriate. Neither Gore or Bush won their home states, but both won their adopted home states.

Don't be silly, his family moved to Texas before he was five years old. He's essentially a lifelong resident of the state of Texas, ever notice his accent? It's NOT a Connecticut accent that's for sure.

Gore's HOME STATE is the one he represents as a US Senator, Tennessee which he lost. Bush's home state is Texas, where he has lived for most of his life and he was Governor.

How do you figure Tennessee was Gore's adopted home state? Go look up where he was born and which state he represented in Congress for almost 30 years and get back to us okay?

I always enjoy raising Republican blood pressure with the "Bush's home state is Connecticut" howler. A significant political realignment took place in Tennessee during the 1990s, and I wasn't at all surprised Gore lost. For decades, Tennessee's moderate politics more closely mirrored that of Arkansas. Now it's moved closer to the arch-conservatism of its neighbors to the South, Mississippi, Alabama and Georgia. A Democrat probably can't win a national election in any of these states for the foreseeable future....just as a Republican probably can't win a national election anywhere in the northeast (except maybe New Hampshire) for the foreseeable future.

    Not so much.

A complete manual recount was never issued. The Florida legislation declared a winner under what many believe to be false pretenses and the governor approved the decision.

I would have liked to see a manual recount myself. I don't often agree with the general population, but I do believe that in a democracy such as ours, the will of the people should be law, not the will of legislators.

If the votes were properly recounted, the will of the people would be done, regardless of the outcome. Chances are, yes, Bush would have won either way. However, it would have been nice to see that the people had their say.

CC, I was referring to Washington, DC as Gore's adopted home state since Gore hadn't lived in Tennessee since the early 1980's.

Funny, I thought Texas was in the south, not Maine....

GWB has really spent most of his life in the northeast. He was born in CT, spent most of his life round and about new england, attended Yale, and did his graduate studies at Harvard.

He may have a cowboy hat, but that doesn't make him from Texas.

Can we get this thread back to the Texas gubernatorial race please?

As Kinky correctly points out in his first Kinkytoon, choosing between Democrat and Republican in Texas is like choosing between paper or plastic.

    Paper: Ah looove babies!--and Jee-zuz!

Plastic: Ah looove tax cuts!--and JAY-sus!

California elected Ahh-nold, Minnesota elected Hulk Hogan.

Can Texas elect Kinky Friedman, why the hell not?

DC votes independent of any other state....Al Gore's official address had been DC for eight years officially and 16 years unofficially....and Al Gore won DC by a margin of 90-9. So let me correct myself. Al Gore won his "adopted home independently-governed voting entity".

Ya know, there's really no need to be a trolling snotty bitch about this Amanda, you're not "raising Republican blood pressure" you made a pretty stupid statement and I explained that you were wrong, simple as that.

He did NOT spend most of his life in the northeast, why do you insist on misrepresenting the truth?

He was born in New Haven and at a very young age his family moved to Midland and Houston. He attened Yale for four years then Harvard for a year for an MBA. Her served in the military NOT in the northeast then spent a majority of his adult life in Texas.

You're bordering on the ridiculous again. So in your mind EVERY US Congressman and US Senator ceases to be from the state that elected them because they have a second residence in Washington DC?

    That really is pretty funny

Gore was born in Tennessee and has represented Tennessee in Congress and in the US Senate since the early 1970s. Tennessee is his "home state" if you want to play cute little word games, it's kind of pointless.........

CC, any normal interpretation of my post, Republican or Democrat, would generate a lighthearted smile. It was clearly all in good fun, as was the throwaway comment about raising Republican blood pressure. If you choose to arch your back and start hissing at me like you do everyone else here, that's your choice. But be warned....this kitty scratches back.

Ya know, you're pulling your BS again and it's getting real old REAL fast. I love your back peddling "Aw gee gosh golly, it was just all in good fun" sorry young lady, that dog won't hunt. You admit you post a trolling comment and laugh about how you love to "raise blood pressure." This is just like Scroto posting that "Opus X sucks....." because he knows what kind of reaction that will generate.

I don't "hiss" at "everyone" around here, but when people like you make stupid or trolling posts, I'll more than likely say something about it. Oh and the smart assed, baiting comments like "hissing" are really uncalled for and your tough chick warnings are kinda silly too (the "scratches back" crap).

So how 'bout ya knock off the trolling and the ridiculous statement like "everyone" and the smart-assed "hissing" $hit, ya "get it"?
